New trailers dropped today. I can't believe this is coming out this month. Also, I'm not watching these because I've entered into the no-spoilers zone. I'm sooooooooooo excited.

doesn't look bad at all imho, i've never tried HL in vr, but that grapichs could be a good starting point.

I've been on an upgrade thing lately and finally have a system I am happy with.
(Helped in no small part by a salary sacrifice scheme in work to allow me to buy the RTX 2080 Super)
I would love to play this game being a massive Half Life fan but jeese the price.
I feel a little cheated by Valve as they have moved the goalposts so far out of the reach of the vast majority.
As regards other posts on here about high refresh rate monitors etc, I game on an AOC 1440P panel that cost me about £170 (75hz) and it is great. Never had an interest in crazy priced monitors.
I simply cannot justify another £600-900 just to play one game

Watched all three gameplay videos earlier. It seems awfully small and linear. Then again I suppose VR was always going to be like that for now.

TBH I wouldn't really want to play this. I would much prefer a decent romp on my monitor.

If you have a 2080 Super, then you're ready for the game. Just get on eBay or Amazon or whatever and get a Samsung Odyssey+ for ~$175-250. It goes on sale practically once a month, has the same resolution screen as the Index, and is pretty amazing for the price. The other option would be to beg a friend to borrow their kit or to just overstay your welcome at their house. I've opened my house to any friend who is a HL fan and can't afford to VR to just come over and play through the game, no questions asked.

Or even brand new, a Rift S is <£400 (though hard to find in stock as with everything else electronic at the moment). No need to splash out on a full Index setup for a mostly incremental improvement.
Plus it's not 'just one game', there is plenty of VR available already.

    Still a big additional outlay.
What other games on VR are worth getting, are there quite a lot?

    - Robo Recall
    - Moss
    - Asgard's Wrath
    - Chronos
    - Edge of Nowhere
    - The Gallery
    - Rez Infinite
    - Thumper
    - Lone Echo
    - Lucky's Tale
    - XING: The Land Beyond
    - Minecraft (the 'Windows store' version if possible as performance is dramatically better than the Java version)
    - The Unspoken
    - Boneworks
    - Vox Machinae
    - Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes (physically multiplayer party game)
    - No Mans Sky
    - Accounting
    - Beat Sabre

    - Sairento

Not counting mods, games that are just dodgy ports (e.g. Skyrim, Fallout, Doom), and any that I've missed or forgotten.

My personal list of favorites includes:
    - The Lab (free from Valve)
    - Beat Saber
    - Pistol Whip
    - Job Simulator
    - Vacation Simulator
    - Moss
    - Google Earth VR (free and pretty awesome)
    - Rec Room (free multiplayer minigames and social app)
    - Crazy Fishing
    - Garden of the Sea
    - Rick and Morty: Virtual Rickality
    - Adventure Time: Magic Man's Head Games
    - Boneworks
    - Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes
    - Trover Saves the Universe
    - A Fisherman's Tale
    - The Curious Case of the Stolen Pets
    - The Gallery
    - Waltz of the Wizard
    - Budget Cuts
    - Star Wars: Droid Repair Bay (interactive story/movie thing that lasts ~5minutes, is free, but very polished)
    - Accounting+
    - Space Pirate Trainer

I'm surprised at the lack of overlap between edzieba's and my lists, but that's the point. Whatever you're into, there's going to be some very fun VR version of it. And there's so much fun free stuff out there.

Thanks for the lists posted above.
I think I will wait until I have paid for the RTX 2080 Super and then get one on the old salary sacrifice kipper!

Not played it yet. Will be back with the new rig and OR tomorrow. Hoping to be on it by the weekend. I've not looked at anything at all, apart from review conclusions (usually skipping to the score). I hear it's incredible, this makes me happy.

I own a Vive but don't own Alyx. I feel like my gamer card is about to be revoked...but damn, I am just not used to the prices of new retail games.

I just learned that I can't even watch a live stream of this without some discomfort. Weird thing is, I don't suffer from motion sickness or anything like that. I don't think VR will be thing for me in it's current incarnation.

Alyx is 50Eur, so guessing its 40-something pounds, as AAA games goes, thats pretty cheap, I mean, most other games start at 60 and are close to 100Eur if you want "game pass"/etc, hell, 5 year old COD is still selling for 60....
