Fair, having just been told by the other half she really doesn't like her chair, and now working from home myself I'm considering getting something half decent, but don't know if I have much to spare on chairs at the moment, and she laughed when I suggested spending £100+ on a chair haha

    Explain.

Is that for having your mod selected?

That's all the gear I get to do the mod with for the competition, but then get to keep it after. Plus a 3700x, 32g of TT toughram and some of the new quad ring rgb rans. And I need to send him a list of all the fittings and adapters etc I'll want.

I meant figuratively... but if it isn't a cafetiere, then I'm lost as to what it is.
(this may be a sarcasm fail moment...)

The Captain Samuel Vimes Theory of Economic Unfairness:

TL;DR: Buy cheap, buy often; buy expensive, buy far less often - if you can afford to buy expensive in the first place...

I am not prepared to carry on spending £40-£80 or so on **** chairs that fall apart after ~6-12 months - I've had at least 4 different chairs that I can remember off-hand and they've all had the same problems. Anaemic seat cushions; fixtures & fittings that simply break; gas lifts that die or fail unexpectedly; extremely poor ergonomics; crap castors that jam up; poor overall build quality; etc.

Like I said I'm not quite ready for the investment in something like a Herman Miller - £120 is a stretch as it is at the moment - but a 'proper' office chair has got to be better than the merry-go-round of cheap chairs I've been on. Plus OH MY GOD I need proper back support!

Mm I know of and agree with that in principle, just also less sure since I'm someone who's never had a 'nice' chair, but also never had a chair break etc, so haven't needed to rebuy.

Been using a cheap piano stool for months without issue, and then more recently a dining room chair, but I figure if I'm getting one for the other half maybe now is the time to treat myself to something 'good' as well!

I get the feeling if I can stretch to the mid £100s it'll be a decent jump compared to <£100 (even from 2ndhnd.com)

While I get the humour behind it, this isn't the sort of thing the authorities would have fun reading... jus' sayin'

With what I have in my shed, I'm sure I could make an effective zombie bashing mace.

When the post-coronavirus apocalypse comes, we'll be ready.
