It's the appearance that counts ! See and be seen ... that's important :p hehe ...

BIG THANKS to scopEDog for hosting the pics !

No pic update just now. I sandblasted the outer hull and then brushed it today. Came out real nice. also made some faceplates for the CD-Rom and FDD. Couldn't decide wheather to use brushed or sanded alu so I made two of every sort. Packed everything today and the papers need only one more signatur. I suppose I'll be able to pick it up some time this comeing week. Then I'll start ripping a real PC case apart and continue work on the G5 ... in the mean time I'm going to catch up on some learning I should have done for uni ...

    Cheers

    [DE]FreD_S

Edit: A note to the size. I also made it bigger than the original, because I felt the size of the original would not allow a proper watercooling setup. I have to get all my stuff in there and I want it all nice and tidy !

If I had the $ to buy an LCD I'd do so, but alas all my $ are for my appartment ... I didn't have time to cut out more with the machine, so I'll have to do so by hand. There's one field missing for the on/off- and reset buttons and leds which I still have to do. The filed in the front is for CD-RW and DVD and FDD. Might do more but I don't know yet, I'll have to see how the PC skeleton fits in and what it allows me to do ...

Thanks for the appretiation peeps !

    Cheers

Wow ... I was searching for this thread but couldn't find it ... oh well.

I currently have SO much to do for uni, that I don't have time to work on the G5. It's currently in a corner of my flat, waiting to be taken to my dads workshop to be modded more. The last thing I did was make some faceplates for the drives ... Don't have any new pics though.

I hope I'll be able to work on it some time in Febuary 2004 ... until then I have to do 3 uni projects and believe me, constructing machines is NOT fun :-( ... yeah well it is, but the security checks get on my nerves cause they're so extensive :geek: and it takes ALOT of time ...

    Cheers

    Fred

    Translation:
I'm sure i've heard that expression before. Is it a French proverb? "you speak French like a Spanish cow"? Also, a question of grammar - does one have to use the subjunctive present tense with the phrase "i'm sure that..."

Your English is excellent, IMHO, and the case you're building is first rate. Keep up the good work!

:D yes it is french proverb, you speak french very well
the problem with my english is that sometimes i want to say something and i can't , then i say it with differents words which doesn't mean exactly what i wanted to say...

[DE]FreD_S> so sorry, I dont want to hijack this excellent thread :duh:

Oops yeah sorry [DE]Fred_S - for some reason I thought I was hijacking piloux's thread, not yours!!

Back on topic - IIRC the G5 uses ducts to create 'zones' to manage airflow and so can get adequate air cooling with NINE(!) relatively low airflow (hence quiet) fans. Are you going to implement a similar zoning scheme or will this be more or less a cosmetic mod? Also, would be cool to see some subtle lighting glowing from behind the mesh... Looking forward to see what happens.

Either way, all the best - your case looks wunderbar!! Can't wait for the finished pics.

No the best way to accelerate a Mac is at 9.8m.s-2. {edit, damm the superscript didn't work. You get the idea.) Macs aren't all bad, but when you run them in a networked environment with microsoft software they suck monkey balls. Which doesn't say much for microsoft software either, but hey.

Your english is better than that of a lot of english people...

With that stuff covered, this is looking to be one nice case. One thing macs DO have is looks (except for those crappy round mice...). Anyway, enough thread hijacking, more modding :dremel:
