Yeah, there's a list of house jobs to do this week.

Got to drill holes for the dishwasher cable and pipework and get that plumbed in, clean off a resilicone the shower, get some new door handles on the internal doors, cut and fit some trim for the flooring.

Oh and then there's a kick stand for the kitchen, plus the garden...

Be good to get some odds and sods done.

 

My first beer in f*** knows how long... probably be as long again before I have another.

I'm talkin' MONTHS...

 

I had some wine in January and a glass of glühwein at Christmas. There was a beer or two last summer.

My old self wouldn't recognise me. Probably because he was either drunk or had a hangover

 

Warehouse Roccat Kone Pure Owl Eye mouse arrived. £27 instead of £51.

Quick wipe down, remove the protective film that was still on the bottom and it seems to be working just fine.

Bonus is it's comfy as it's not ambidextrous like my Mionix and there are no right hand side buttons to accidentally click.

Quick button DPI changer is new to me, already using it like i've always needed it.

 

I've gone the same way, gradually drinking less and less, to the point where I'm not far off teetotal. Still enjoy a pint of nice real ale but, I could count the number of pints I drink in a year on the fingers of one hand.

There was one occasion when I woke-up in the belfry of the village church 35 years ago, with absolutely no idea how I got there, ( in Priddy where I grew up, on the Mendips between Wells and Cheddar). That was the beginning of the end of me getting drunk and the only time I ever passed-out.

 

I'm using my FiiO E10K DAC as my primary audio interface for headphones. I did not realise how bad the headphone jack in my amplifier is. Even listening to stuff on Spotify I can hear so much more detail. I think I'm going to mount it to the bottom of my desk, I can't stand having all these wires trailing everywhere..

 

I once tried the headphone out on my 1993 Sony CD player. Yeah, not going there again. It's stunning how much better detail and overall sound your headphones/speakers can sound for a relatively small investment. Fiio's offerings or AudioQuest's Dragonfly series come to mind.

 

I say, ding-dong.

 

Three days it took to fully recover. That was a real "never again" moment. Never been drunk since, just not worth it.

 

That hasn't worked for me yet. As I'm getting older the hangovers get longer and harder, but, alas, I don't learn.

This "not going anywhere for any reason" stuff is.. Well, it's forcing me to finish half-finished projects.

Currently putting the hours into the Escort RS Cosworth model I've been half-building and painting for the last 18 months. The Red Frame is together until the airbrush stuff arrives. I've pulled out the 54mm Cerberus assassin from Mass Effect, I've tidied up the electronics on the Thunderhammer so I can plug it into the wall. I've ripped all the CD's I own.

Oh. I also fine-tuned the home network, the backup system for the devices I can back up automatically, the pihole, and forcing all DNS via said pihole so all those stupid hardcoded pieces of tech can suck it.

It's been warm enough for some small bats to come out and fly above us while sat in the garden.

Awesome. No idea what sort, they seemed small.

Or they were just very, very far away.

 

Most likely the Common Pipistrelle. They're about 4cm long, 20cm wingspan and weight about 5g so very small. We get them around here (edge of Nottingham City), especially around the back of houses.

 

Some bats have very soft fur on their bellies. I found out when I had to free one from the curtains in my parent's living room a long time ago.
