RGBling just got even sillier: https://www.tomshardware.com/uk/news/vivify-rgb-hdmi-gaming-cable--mixer-100-dollars
Gaming? no. However, if the colour can be set it would make it much easier for people who continually have to remove and replace cables. IE if you have say 6 monitors in an array it would make troubleshooting much easier if the cables were all colour coded. Not that you couldn't do that without labels but yeah, I can see some non gaming uses for such a technology.
Colour-coded cables are the only reason I can see for this. Especially as most people try to hide cables. That said, I don't need RGB for colour-coded cables. A glowing cable coming out of the back of my TV would be an eyesore.
If you want colour-coded cables, I can think of many better and cheaper ways to achieve it than buying a $100 RGB cable...
Was I the only one that got the sense the writer of the article was more excited about the cable including a optical converter allowing for greater cable lengths? Man I wish the TOSLINK idea had caught on and expanded into video cables. We could have the tiniest cables every.
Not he most faltering photo of Linus, he looks like he could just about be collecting his pension checks.
