Help me pick a new tv! Right the two I've selected seem resonable and from what I recall, decent makers... but feel free to add any more as long as they're decent and ideally £300 or so but max of £350 Toshiba 28W33B - Link to argos Thomson 28WH201S -Link to argos The only difference I see is Flatscreen on the Thomson and difference in makes.... Now I don't know an awful amount about tvs.. Especially the wide variety.... so any and every bit of help is good! (oh btw this is likely to be for my bedroom, and mostly used for watching DVDs, quite a bit of tv, and the ocasional game)
Oh and I found this, which is only viable if i can save about £100 and get you nice folks to buy my spare parts off me totalling £100 Sony KV28LS36 + DVPNS330 DVD Package. - Link to argos
Not a huge fan of the Sony Machine, but I have to admit, the Sony Vega's kick serious arse! I'm saving up for one myself...
Bad words! Bad words! hehehe (OK I work for Philips) You should buy a Philips. A pixel plus TV. They are the bomb. I'll post a link to some TVs if you want
Oooh, looks my my telly! djengiz: Pah. Me no likey Philips. Parents had a couple of their sets and they both broke. Sony or Panny all the way.
Try and go far a flat screen if possible, quite a few televisions have ridges in the glass and this can distort the image. I have looked at a some Sonys televisions a while ago and to be honest I felt quite overated and pricey. I had a good chat with my brother about digital projectors the other day, a couple years time he and I will venture into the world of 70 inches plus.....
kinkeh sorry micb mate couldent resist lorquis my advice go to a local tle store & see if they have the models your interested in on display & have a look @ the picture, turn the volume up see what ti sounds like, have a play with the menus etc etc
I think the only problem with Sony TV's is sometimes they can be too good. They can make a good source look great and a bad source look terrible. I picked up an KV32FX68 the other day and DVD's look great, terrestrial broadcasts are fine (if a little soft) but digi-cable looks quite bad.
Well, I'd only suggest the Sony set to people I didn't really like, So in that case, go for the SONY one! You used o work in dicksons right? Then you know that would be pretty much a waste of time as they are never set up properly. Best bet is to do a few web searches and find out what’s recommended across the boards, and get the opinions of people that actually own that particular TV, there are plenty of AV and home cinema forums out there where you would get a better idea of what to get.
If you goto a little local place they normally take the time to set them up properly and will let you have a play around with it, rather than the big chain stores that just rip off the packing, dump it on a shelf and plug it in. The prices in the little store may be quite a bit more expensive than everywhere else... but no-one said you actually have to buy it from them (although you might beable tot alk them into a nice discount)
We were planning on doin that for our Uni flat next year... 800 quid between 5 isnt too bad... then we saw the new bulbs cost ~300 quid Oh and get a panasonic TV if you can, they kick ass! Folks have a 32" quintrix (*sp) widescreen, great picture + sound, pitty it aint a flatscreen tho, get dodgy shadows in the corners...
