What would you upgrade on the spec below, would just a new gpu suffice? Want to be able to stream on twitch games like overwatch and call of duty.

Currently the machine is not powerful enough to stream.
    1. Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB 2.5 inch Solid State Drive
    2. ASUS STRIX B250F GAMING Intel Motherboard
    3. Corsair CP-9020091-UK RM650x 650 W 80 Plus Gold Certified Modular 135
    4. Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3000 MHz C15 XMP 2.0 RAM
    5. Intel Core i5-7500 3.40 GHz
    6. MSI Geforce GTX 1060 Armor OCV1 GEFORCE GTX1060 Internal Graphic Card
    7. Fractal Design Define R5
    8. Acer XF240Hbmjdpr 24 Inch FHD Gaming Monitor
I think there are 2 options apart from a completely new machine.

1, Buy a gpu maybe a rtx2070 Super or a rx5700 XT, would this be good enough for streaming or would i need to upgrade the cpu etc aswell? Is the 2070 Super better performance than the rx5700 XT? Or would the normal rx5700 be suffice as its alot cheaper?

2, new motherboard, cpu and ram with the above gpu. Would go for Ryzen setup then.

    Thanks

If you go 2070Super then you can use NVEC to encode your streams. This may be enough to make it viable. I'd grab the new GPU, soo how it goes and go from there.

Supposedly, currently he cannot play call of duty and have discord voice chat at the same time.
I will read up on NVEC to encode streams, is that some software mod?

    Thanks

Its Nvidia's hardware H.264 encoder, its the best currently, especially on 20xx series cards.

A third option would be a capture card to take the strain off of the system, but not sure what min specs are for handling that, 4 threads is probably a bit lightweight generally.

Do all 2070 super have it? I have been looking but nowhere I can see from the card I have been looking at says about NVEC?

Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 Super WINDFORCE OC 3x 8G

Sorry, I misspelt it, its NVENC :)

Pascal GPU's (e.g. GTX1060) already supports NVENC, are you sure that is the problem?

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nvidia_NVENC

Edit: Actually, you may be right...
(insert random comment found on t'internet..)

"Turing NVENC which is far more efficient than CPU encoding and alleviates the need for casual streamers to use a dedicated stream PC. "

Edit 2: If you are using H.264 or X.264 encoding, it will be the CPU that is the bottleneck. Try changing it to NVENC to see if it makes a difference (your GTX1060 already supports NVENC).

Ah thanks, I dont really understand it all but guess it's better to get the 2070super over the rx5700.

Also would you advised to wait for the 3000 series as rumours release will be this year. Considering the prices are high at the moment for pc components?

NVENC is *much* better on Turing.

    find the SLi part.

The point I was trying to make was to try NVENC firstly on the GTX1060, I suspect the OP is using H.264 which is CPU dependent and not using NVENC at all. Worth a shot before buying a new GPU.

Apparently a 1070Ti is not quick enough, hence why I posted the video. And the guy in the video has a 7700k which has 4/8. OP has 4/4 so it will be even worse.

Not being able to play Warzone and use discord at the same time sounds like you're being limited by more than just the gpu.
Is this just whilst trying to stream or in general?

Yeah, this is happening whiles just general use and playing, not streaming. He has Tried to stream once but was too laggy.

So currently he cannot join discord call when playing call of duty. Have to alt tab out of game to talk to discord.

So what happens when he tries to use it whilst playing?

Sounds like potentially could be a software issue as well, if he can use it whilst the game is still running in the background.

That's either a software incompatibility or he simply doesn't have enough C/T. I've never had any issues, but then I do run hugely cored CPUs. Maybe one of the guys can chime in on that..

My buddy was telling me all about it. His new obsession is ripping BR. He was saying how crap it was on his 980Ti. That's why I sent him the XP, but yeah he said how amazing the new Turing GPUs are for NVENC then.

It might be cheaper for him to try a Ryzen 1600AF and board first. That should easily come in at less than £200, given he has 3000mhz RAM. The other options are all very expensive.

I've streamed using NVENC on my 780M to YouTube playing Guild Wars 2 (mmo) and never had an issue. Pretty sure OP was not using NVENC. Sure, turing's encoder may be more efficient and look better, but OP clearly has other issues, one of them being he's not using NVENC in the first place.

First test streaming with Shadow Play (part of Nvidia Experience suite). If that works better, just set your encoder in OBS to NVENC. You can also set your encoder to your second GPU (integrated) and OBS will use quick sync.

I understand now that the issue with lag when streaming is maybe he needs to enable NVENC now, however the problem happens when not streaming and playing normally.

I will get him to uninstall discord and the game first and go from there.

If that doesn't work a new 2070 super and if that doesn't work then a new cpu, motherboard and ram.
OR the flip side, new cpu, motherboard and ram then a new gpu? His got about 500 to spend right now so which route would you go right now? Gpu first or cpu?
