    So border checks in NI and potentially caving to US food standards

    ...two brexit things HMG and boris insisted would never happen.

    So 4.5% of fishing quotas in Scotland are in the hands of the eeeeeeevil fureigners while in England it is over 50%.

    Almost makes it look like being in the EU wasn't the primary cause of the problem (regardless if that problem was ever a problem or not)...

    (the almost at the beginning the sentence is sarcastic)

    I see they've been using the lack of scrutiny to tinker with agricultural policy. Soon US foods will meet our 'standards'.

    On the face of it, I was astounded by how much fishing quotas were an issue. It's not a modern trade of much economic importance but it was a huge headline grabber. And not because British people want to eat the fish, we don't like it. We want to sell it to Europeans who we want no economic ties with instead.

    It only becomes clear when you remember the electorate are children, who don't want to share, and have some bizarre belief that they're stealing our fish, much like migrant workers are stealing all our farm labouring jobs.

    So Gove means to say that when trying to make a deal with the world's largest trading bloc we might be at a teeny bit of a disadvantage?

    Yeah, you know, the dude who said:

    With the DG of the WTO resigning after the US repeatedly throwing spanners in the workings I can't see relying on WTO rules even seems like a strong viewpoint even for Brexiteers now.

    Brexiteers are not rational, because Brexit is not a rational act. It is based in an narcissistic belief that they are special. Like all narcissism it is delusional; beyond need for justification, and beyond rational challenge: Britain is superior simply because it is Britain, and any notion that it might not be is:
    [IMG]

    Other narcissistic beliefs are:
    1. Because one is special, one has an entitlement to status and privileges that others do not;
    2. A fear and suspicion of others wanting that special status and privilege for themselves (projection), and therefore
    3. Others needing to be actively subjugated and denied status and privilege to affirm one's own special status and privilege.

    Therefore, when it comes to Britain and the EU:
    1. The UK deserves special status and privileges that other EU member states do not; and consequently when it leaves the EU (as too good for it) it deserves a special status and trading deal that other countries do not;
    2. The EU clearly wishes to appropriate Britain's self-evident special status and privilege (by making it a member state equal to any other member states, by "exploiting" it and "taking away its sovereignty" and "taking all its money" etc.; and when the UK leaves, by treating it no more favourably than any other country), and therefore
    3. The EU needs to be not only rejected but actively undermined; it must "lose" in the negotiations, and it must fail as a project.

    Leaving the UK was a narcissistic act of rejection; of walking out on one's partner as punishment in the belief that they would be sorry when one was gone. Now that is clearly not happening, the UK is coming back to whine what a spiteful bitch the EU is being. Expect more of those antics; the UK is not simply going to leave. It wants a drama. It wants its leaving to be noticed. It wants to be missed, and for the EU to fail without it. It hasn't realised that the world has already moved on.

    Way too much comedy / facepalm material in that letter to pick it apart one by one....

    So I'll just draw attention to this one particular stupidity:

    Clearly someone has forgotten the long distant past of 2018...

    Also clearly forgotten that the UK is a net exporter of services to the EU, so why would the EU be motivated to negotiate good market access for services with the UK?

    This is all ******** for home audience consumption. The UK government is heading for a no-deal, so it wants to make the EU out as just spiteful and unreasonable. And the Brexit crowd is already gobbling it up. Just read the comments section. It's pathetic.
