I found switching to vaping pretty easy, once I started using decent devices. It's a different feeling in the lungs/throat than smoking, so that took a little getting used to. But packing in vaping was/is a nightmare! I was a very heavy vaper, especially at home. It definitely helps that I went down to zero nicotine for a few weeks before packing it in.

I really didn't like vaping, left my mouth and throat so dry, didn't give me that hit of warmth from smoking. I just quit dead.

When I quit for a little while a few years back, I requested a "quit pack" from the NHS. It appeared 3 weeks later wreaking of cigarettes :eyebrow:

I've not been following the news today but if that's Trumps latest suggestion for curing Corvid-19 I'd suggest returning them and getting a refund.

I have to say that I enjoy driving our Cooper S a lot more than I thought I would. That is the slightly newer version of ours, but still has the same heavily de-tuned 2 litre turbo in it that ours and a lot of other BMWs have. I think the 730 has the top tuned version before you get to the somewhat reworked ones in the new Cooper Works.

    Packed in smoking or vaping?

Do people struggle with vape addiction? I'm not being an arse - I genuinely never considered it as a possibility.

I stopped smoking in Jan 2013, but I didn't use quitting aids like vapes or nicotine gum, so I know practically nothing about vaping, other than all the little shops that used to sell mobile phone cases now sell vaping liquids.

I'd imagine so, that old nicotine and all that.

Me, i'll carry on. I love my nicotine, my caffeine, my.... erm.... soreen.

Nicotine has got a bad wrap from the delivery methods used, I think it's far too underrated.

Wasn't particularly after a Cooper S, just happened to be the one with all of the right boxes ticked - auto, exclusive, nav and comfort packs in a good colour combo... so the extra bit of scoot is a nice bonus.

    Vaping.

Like most addictions, the dependence is the hardest to get over. Physical withdrawal is tame; nicotine addicts don't wake up in a cold sweat in the middle of the night because their body is craving nicotine, and your body starts to adapt to the lack of nicotine within around a week.

It's the dependence that gets you. Using it to get through the day, having a smoke/vape after you finish a meal, socialising with other smokers/vapers, etc.

The dependence wasn't the hardest for me, it was the habit - the ingrained muscle memory, if you will, dictating that I have a cigarette.

I broke the habit by changing the rules the year before - I stopped smoking in the house (I had one room in the house where I used to smoke - my office), and in the car. It became easier to not bother walking out into the garden for a smoke, especially if the weather was crap. I was on 20 a day, but by the time I decided to stop I was on less than ten, purely because I broke the routine. After that, stopping was easy.

That habit is part of the dependence :). It becomes part of your routine, part of your normal daily life. It manifests differently in different people, but ultimately it all comes down to the same thing :).

I tried cold-turkey from cigarettes several times and it failed every single time. The only the thing that got me off the smokes was vaping, but I just shifted my dependence on cigarettes to vaping. The health risks are far far lower with vaping (but not risk-free) though, so that was still a step up in terms of my health.

To be honest the thing that really spurred me into packing in vaping was constantly finding a greasy residue condensed on surfaces. Combine that with normal household dust and it makes for very difficult cleaning.

    Two laptops and a phone.

    Lightning strike took them out.

Unfortunately we did not make it home in time to unplug them, would have been less expensive.

1 Copic Classic C-0 cool grey marker.

It's the lightest grey marker you can actually buy, it's a stealth marker, it's to hide how utterly bad I am at painting without a guide sketch...
