Hello everyone. I am new to this project log endeavor, so bare with me if you will. I have been building/modding computers for several years now and since I like a good challenge, trying new things and working with my hands, I have decided to build my own case just the way that I want.

This is my first scratch build (not a professional, just an enthusiast in love with technology). I am going for a water-cooled cyberpunk theme with a little reference to technology (rgb lighting, LCD screens, wireless phone charging). Since this is my 1st time, I have decided to go for a basic shaped case but I do have some ideas for more elaborate designs (learning fusion 360 as we speak) for future projects. The case will be made with aluminium L angled bars, 3 mm acrylic, glass tubing, some power tools (when i can due to having a newborn in the house) and my hands.

    Parts List:
    • Asus Rampage VI Extreme
    • i9-7920X
    • 32gb of G. Skill Trident Z RGB (3600mhz)
    • 2- Asus ROG Strix RTX 2070 OC edition
    • 140 and 120 Thermaltake Pure Plus RGB Fans
    • 2- 512gb Samsung 850 Pro SSDs
    • 2- WD Black 500gb m.2
    • 2tb WD Black Hard drive
    • 420 and 360 GTS Hardware Labs Black Ice Nemesis Radiators
    • Asus ROG Thor 1200W Power Supply
    • Asus ARGB Controller (ROG Aura Terminal)
    • 2- Singularity Computers Protium Res/Pump Combo
    • EK-FB Asus Rog R6E RGB Monoblock
    • EK RTX 2070 GPU waterblocks
    • Barrow fittings (12mm)
    • 12mm Glass Tubing
Pictures to come next post .

Let's get started, shall we? I took some aluminum L bars and a hand saw and cut them down to size and cut a 45 degree angle in order to make rectangle. I sanded them to get them as flush as possible. 20200623_181432.jpg 20200623_181343.jpg 20200623_181358.jpg 20200623_173825.jpg frame.jpg

These tools are my best friends right now . I measured the center so I know where to drill the holes for the m3 screws. I used a 2.5mm drill bit for the hole, then tapped with a 3mm bit. I made some brackets (which are also tapped) to hold everything together (probably will replace with modding cubes but we'll see how it goes). 20200623_215059.jpg 20200623_222753.jpg 20200623_215211.jpg 20200623_215147.jpg x.jpg hole.jpg 20200623_232340.jpg tap hole.jpg 20200623_232353.jpg

Here you can see how I attached the brackets. I counter sunk the outside brackets so that the head of the m3 screw would be flush with the bracket because there will be an acrylic panel that will go over this. 20200624_171042.jpg 20200624_171026.jpg
Had to make sure that everything was level. Next up will be the motherboard tray and the panels.

Hope everyone's week went well. Mine not so much. Wasn't able to get all that I wanted done (due to a 5 month old that is going through separation anxiety), but I got enough done to warrant an update. Cut out my acrylic panels that will make up the case. 20200625_133048.jpg 20200625_133451.jpg 20200625_133651.jpg 20200625_133933.jpg
Had to use pliers here for the thin pieces. Worked like a charm :thumb:.
    20200625_140414.jpg
    Countersunk holes again
    20200625_151538.jpg 20200625_151529.jpg
Holes to mount the side panels to the frame (these were also tapped).
    20200625_162824.jpg 20200625_175129.jpg
And here is the basic frame of the case, with some added support for the top of the psu shroud attached to the motherboard tray.

Was able to get a fair bit done this week, so here we go. First off, pics of some of the components that are going to be transferred from my old rig (Cosmos 700P case) into this one. Here are the rest of the pics.

    20190308_185428.jpg

Love this res/pump, so beautifully made. Going to add some leds to light this baby up!
    20191205_120655.jpg 20191205_120713.jpg

RIP Mild Sauce (I'm from Chicago and love mild sauce, hence the name lol)

    20190405_205317.jpg 20200331_181112.jpg

Alright, now back to the good stuff... Here I am cutting the fan holes for the front and top of the case. The front is going to hold a 360 rad and the top is going to hold a 420 rad.

    20200702_145729.jpg 20200702_145904.jpg 20200702_145914.jpg

I may add some fans to the front (for a push/pull configuration, still undecided). The panels that are going in front of these are going to be magnetic (reason for the magnets) for easy cleaning (more on this later).
    20200816_192115.jpg

Test fitting the components. I installed a 7" lcd screen, which will show system stats, in the rear (forgot to take pictures of this, sometimes I just get in the zone and forget lol).

Here, I cut out the hole in the back of the motherboard. I made the cutout big enough so I don't have to take out the motherboard in order to clean the monoblock. Just unscrew from the back and bam! Done!

    20200730_001510.jpg

Going for vertical orientation to show off the coolant in the block. Was going to make a cover for the this where just the coolant is showing but think ill keep as is, since it is themed around technology.
    20200727_170857.jpg
    Mount for the gpu
    20200727_163217.jpg 20200727_172235.jpg
Here are the pieces that will make up the gpu support bracket. Thinking of making this light up as well (to look like a billboard in night city)
    20200728_001302.jpg 20200730_001406.jpg

More test fitting and deciding on how i want the glass tubes to run. This is not the final version (came up with a plan) and because of my ocd, everything has to be as symmetrical and eye pleasing as possible (going for the clean look here). Also, there will be an open area in the shroud to show off the psu leds (like in my previous build...reason for the tick marks).
    116875523_2537360069838760_1330273848164036681_o.jpg

The psu shroud, front and top, will be lit with designs. Liking how it's looking so far. Til next update, keep modding!!!

Looking great so far, it´s really impressing how you managed to build the case :) I like the dual reservoir concept.
What kind of look are you going for stylewise? Neokitsch, Militarism, etc.?

Thank you. The look has changed a little since starting this build but it's definitely more on the lines of neokitsch. I want this to be a "show off" piece. I'm constantly getting new ideas/inspiration to add something new or tweak something so I am just going to enjoy the ride and see where this build takes me.

Worked on the front and top panels. This is the design I am going for, allows plenty of air flow. Found out later that I should have bent it then cut out designs since the bend is close to the cutout, so instead I cut the sides off and glued them with acrylic glue to the angle that I wanted.

    20200726_113735.jpg
    20200726_143009.jpg
Just typed them to see how it would look before glue.
    20200812_193351.jpg
    20200812_193304.jpg

I ran out of fast set one (#3) so had to use some super glue until I remembered that I had this on hand so finished it up with it. I will be going over these edges with some body filler and try to get a sharper edge.

    20200822_161029.jpg 20200822_162848.jpg

Plenty of room if I decided to add fans to front.
    20200812_193233.jpg

Remember this pic with the magnets, this is what will be holding the panels on to allow for easy removal for cleaning. I made some rails on the inside of the panels that the magnets will be glued to (These will be evenly spaced for final assembly). Also for the front panel for some added support, I cut out a slot at the bottom to allow a piece of acrylic to slide in to help hold it up, just in case.
    20200816_192115.jpg

You can see the slit and piece of acrylic that slide in there. Next will be the body filler and sanding and working on the front IO. I planned out the loop and know how I want the glass tubes to run, half way there!

I'm back with another update. Been so busy with other things haven't had time to work on this like I would like. Anyway, I finished up the top and front panels to the case. Added some putty to smoothen some roughness and sanded that down.

    20200824_100557.jpg 20200827_130850.jpg 20200827_150039.jpg 20200827_150151.jpg
Here, I made a template for the fan grills and cut those out on my moto-saw and used mini file to get the small areas (had to do 6 of these).

    20200829_153737.jpg 20200829_153748.jpg 20200829_154049.jpg 20200829_165314.jpg 20200829_184837.jpg 20200830_154002.jpg

Ok, ran into a slight issue with the monitor. The HDMI cord is blocking a USB port and some of the ethernet port and wifi. So decided to have it mounted vertically instead. So had to redo the back panel. Also cut out a design for the back for airflow.

    20200904_105902.jpg

    20200904_105852.jpg 20200918_175949.jpg 20200919_170013.jpg
Here, I cut out holes for cable management. Really like the look of passthrough holes instead of cutting out a rectangular hole. These are for the gpu cables. Did it for the 24 pin, 8 and 4 pin eps cables as well.
    20200920_083444.jpg

    Pass-through holes for watercooling.
    20200920_093236.jpg 20200920_093729.jpg

Looks a mess now...still have to cut out area for front io cables at bottom of panel. Made holes (that will be hidden behind radiator) for the fan cables, on top and lower right side of the panel. getting there, slowly but surely. 20200924_191506.jpg

Theres sooo many things i like about this case build . Your designs are gorgeous and i really love the magnet idea ! The fact that this is your first scratch build too and your taking on some pretty complex modding is awsome:rock:

That front and top panel  :rock:
