Less than 300, you mean? These cards are plummeting on eBay...

If anyone was following the leaks they knew RTX 3000 was going to be massive, but i think the prices did catch everyone off guard.
If your looking to sell a GPU, always do it before the next gen announcement!

IBM instructional tapes on Discovision, 1979 is calling to you Gareth, it's calling with that funky beat.

I *think*, despite IBM's work with MCA on DiscoVision and the fact none of the documentation says "LaserDisc," they're LaserDiscs - they're 1984-1989, which is past the 1981 collapse of DiscoVision.

Won't really know unless I can get 'em inside a LaserDisc player. Which does, of course, involve getting a LaserDisc player...

Yeah, lots of people got caught with their old cards now. Luckily not everybody's in a rush to upgrade.

Prices for used high-end 20XX cards will be rock bottom for a few weeks as the second hand market will be flooded with them as everyone tries to clear out their inventory. They will creep back up again to sit wherever they fit into the performance hierarchy once we've seen some actual, independent figures for the 30XX models.

It's definitely a good time to grab a bargain!

Mild upgrade utilising some cash I had from selling old camera bits, so effectively zero outlay.

3600X (only a tenner more than the 3600) looks like it's allowing my RAM to run at it's full 3200 rated speed. For now, fingers crossed. It was hamstrung by the 2600 to 2933.

    Slightly more sensible purchase...

    upload_2020-9-4_10-25-46.png

Fujitsu SP-1425 document scanner with flatbed and 50-page full-duplex ADF chute. My current Canon LiDE is on the outs - it's started putting big vertical lines in everything - and considering I bought it for £1 at a car-boot sale 15 years ago, it owes me nowt.

Looking forward to it - can scan 50 sides a minute at 300 DPI, allegedly, and goes up to 600 DPI. Main selling point, though: it has an official Linux driver!

    As a consolation prize;

    Ryzen 5 3600
    Aorus Pro Wifi B450 mitx
    32gb Corsair Vengeance
    2gb RX 550
    Corsair SFF450

The Phanteks case is going to become my homelab/VM box with unnecessary cooling, while the main rig gets a little hardware update. In (Slightly faster) matched memory, and a more recent processor.

Bought the missus a shiny new laptop to start her Phd with.
Lenovo IdeaPad 5 with the Ryzen 5 4500u, in a very nice Teal colour.
Must admit I'm a little jealous. Though I get the old one to do with as I please so, some consolation at least.
