so guys, here goes, now i can show you something.
this build is going to be the best of both worlds.
both worlds in this case being the modern day pc and the retro style and functions of an arcade with the good old arcade games.
it will have both raspberry pi as well as a pc based hardware constellation and what makes it special, a set of two monitors, keyboards and arcade game buttons and joyticks opposite eachother, to enhance the opponent feeling.
it will have some special switches to switch from pc to arcade mode and two sets of loudspeakers.
i picked up the two second hand 23" monitors on ebay. and just started the mdf woodwork from there.
so here goes with the first pics.

wow, quite a bit of progress! Very cool! Will it be one computer (and raspberry pi) controlling both monitors and inputs? I'm interested to see how you split up the controls for that...

hi karrek, yes indeed, thats the plan. both side have a set of buttons, keyboards and joysticks.
and can be switched back and forth. the keybs will be attached to the pc only, and that will further be plugged along with the PI into an internal router. the pc will also have wifi. everything i need to save on the pi will be over the self sufficient network and all other stuff from outside through the pc wifi. new roms etc..
the gamer buttons and joysticks are both connected to the PI. so i just need to switch monitors actually. lets see, maybe i come up with a better plan.
it will have two sets of speakers on each side and also sound recognition for the array of leds all over the case.

the mouse pads have been cut to size and stuck in too. they serve not just as mouse pad in pc mode, but also as wrist rests for thze 5 game buttons as well when in arcade mode. :)

    more to come.

ps: the second coolermaster keyboard should arrive this weeks too then i can test it properly.

    thc coolermaster :)

:) you are actually right, thats basically what it is :) am just integrating a pc too so that i can also play dos games like pong, raptor etc.. first doom maybe too. and it has an old router soon too so that i can find and collect and constantly update the roms via the internal homogenous network between the pc and the raspberry without having to take out the raspberry microsd card or hook it to the internet. so i kill too birds with one stone. still bit to go.
from next monday on i will always be live in facebook streaming whatever i am doing. i have someone who will switch between the stream cameras now so it will actually work and show what i do. starting with the finishing of the battle box of course.
