Not many modders are brave enuf to build a air cooled mod nowadays! but this is really cool (excuse the pun)with some really nice ideas mixed with clean pro looking mods :rock:

    Working on 24-pin

Terminating the other end of the 24-pin. Hopefully I got all these the correct lengths.

Terminated them all upside down. :(
    [IMG]

But after 4-6 hours I was able to fix them.

Going to need a couple of Y-cables since I am using an 8-pin PCIe on PSU end for the 8-pin EPS on the motherboard. Outcome is way cleaned cables @ PSU end. Melt them a bit to make sure all cables hold. Then I'll put heatshrink over top to make it look decent.

Finished off both 24-pin and EPS. 24-pin combs will be broken off in a few days after the cable 'trains'.

That has to be the cleanest join of a Y-split ever. Beautiful.

Notice cables on right. Each column changes colours but the rows are the same.

But I messed up on the 8-pin EPS and I changed both column and row.

Because of it I would have had a duplicate colour visible on the front. I tried to fix it a few times but I ended up just making it worse. So I redid the 8-pin from scratch. :(

Gave it a bit more slack @ the mobo end, which I think looks better. You can also see the first UV LED stripe installed. Also seen I've installed the PCIe cables and have removed the combs.

And the backside. I decided to use a couple of connectors for VGA in case I use a different GPU and it has a different connector setup. But limited to 8+6. Guess I should have done dual 8, but hindsight is 2020.

You really inspire me to fire up the 3d printer and just make an entire mod with it. This is looking super nice!

    This ol' 1080 don't match.

Give it a quick paint job.

Finished the GPU cables for the card.

    From the back
    [IMG]

    And full frontal....

Rear IO. The top card has a 3d printed bracket.

Printed a simple shroud for the power supply fan.

Gave it a quick sand and paint. I think fitment and the paint texture look almost stock.

On to installing the LED strips. Using WS2815s for the ARGBs.

Didn't like how the strips looked nor the white UV LED strips. So making some shrouds for the LED strips to clean them up.

Found that the single ESP8285 couldn't do both the UV and ARGB due to firmware. So I decided to add another ESP8266 for the ARGB. Designed and printed a small case for it.

Left a window for the wifi.

Fitting them in the case. Wiring is going to be tight but should be manageable. Using ESPHome for the ESP8285 for the UV LEDs and WLED for the addressable RGB.

Only printed part in the case I didn't design. But they worked so much better than what I was planning.

I like. All very austere, but with nice detail in the shape of the feet and other small parts. And the wiring makes a nice contrast.

See if you can radially brush the hex screws.

Not sure what you mean here. Isn't that that an abrasive brush?

Adding a couple of UV LEDs to the bottom of the heatsink (and fan) to assist with a couple of dead spots.

Got lucky and was able to snag one of these. Should be a huge upgrade from my 1080.

    Painted the slot cover.

Only a couple of mm to spare to fit in in the case.

Can see the anti-sag in work. Although the card barely sags.

Spend the day working on the wiring for it. Since it is an 8+8 pin, I need to use 2 Y cables :( . Doing my best to make it not noticeable.

Got the last piece in the mail.

    Wiring for the ARGBs
    [IMG]

Finished off the GPU cables. Will give them a few days to 'train' before I cut off the combs.

The wiring inside the LED controller box isn't great. But there is just so many cables and I needed a bit of slack. :(
    [IMG]

That's it. She's done. I'll post final pics in a few days. :)

That looks awesome, its got a very understated look (if you ignore those awesome cables haha), which i love. At a glance you wouldn't appreciate the time and work that's gone into it. But a closer look shows all the little attention to detail bits like the 3d printed led controller box, the cable tidies with the exact size for the amount of cables and the little counter sunk hex heads and so many other cool little bits. I personally think its hard to do that and always looks good if you pull it off :).

    It's this effect:

Fancy hardware (like Apple) often has this concentric circular brushed finish on its screws. You can achieve it by spinning the screw in a drill (for instance; I use my lathe) and pressing some P1200 sandpaper against it. It gives even cheap screws a nice finish.

When I look at your build all I have in my head is Outcast song "So Fresh, So Clean".
Cable management on another level. Love it.
What you melt this sleeve with to achieve such a clean look?

That does look awesome but mine are are all black oxide coated as to match the black.
Thanks. I use a cheap hot air soldering station plus clear heatshrink. Does take a lot longer than a lighter but massive improvement in consistency.
    Really appreciate it. :)

I like that the lights are not overpowering (too bright) - it looks soothing, balanced, artful, and tasteful! well done.

^Agreed. The way the cooler is merely hinted at with light on the edges looks great. The whole project is wonderfully executed.
No coverplate for the 'extra wire' box?
