Ok I'm building a computer for the first time and I have a quick question.

2 IDE connectors on mobo
2 IDE cables, each with connections for two drives
1 DVD rom drive
1 Hard Drive

Whats the best way of connecting them. Which should be master and which should be slave, or should they both be master if they are on separate cables?

put the HDD as master on IDE1

and the DVD on IDE2 as master

if you add another device then make it slave on IDE2
