News Benchmarks for the Ryzen 7 5800X CPU show up online

Perhaps just me but I couldn't discern what the AMD chip was clocked at?

 

Not just you, no mention of clocks at all in the Amd picture and the Intel one only has the meaningless base clock.

 

I've seen a lot of these purported leaks lately, but the thing that is really bothering me is why they are all being done at 4K resolutions, when any benchmark site does CPU tests at 1080p to avoid a GPU bottleneck.

Also the Intel test is from 5 months ago. The nVidia drivers are sure to have changed between tests, affecting this further outside showing worthwhile CPU performance.

 

The article talks about the 5800X, comparing it to a 10900K - which is the top of the Intel "consumer" chips right now - then goes on to mention a 5900X once in the penultimate paragraph. Is the 5800X the top AMD chip this time (which would create a valid comparison?) or the 5900X? Or something else? It seems strange that AMD would replace the 3xx0 series chips which topped out at 16 cores with an 8 core max...?

 

5800X is an 8-core CPU. 5900X is going to be the top chip at launch, with 12 cores. Later we are going to get a 16-core 5950X, just like we did get 3950X few months later after 3900X, 3800X and 3700X launched.

 

CPU frames vs avg frames = ?
