I am looking at upgrading my whole Gaming setup. To be honest, think I had some kind of Motherboard or CPU failure, but have had them for almost 10 years, so it did well!! The original PSU is in good working order (of course will test). I have a Corsair HX10000W and wondered if it would still be good to use? I know this is overkill for most systems, but if it saves me buying another, would be great. Thanks Ade
Are you 100% sure the failure is on the motherboard/CPU? Reason I ask is because not-booting-up could also be symptom of PSU failure.
Yeah! Had quite a lot of hardware in the machine when I built it, but probably still overkill!! Just thinking if it’s in good working order, can continue using to avoid spending on another at least for the time being.
It’s been a while since I booted the system, but when it powers, PSU seems to be working OK (Need to test to be sure) I do get error messages, but can’t remember what they are now! My thinking is that the CPU and Motherboard are really old now, and could do with a refresh. If I can reuse the PSU even for the time being, will save some money!
I don't see why not, if it the PSU doesn't seem like the cause, and it is of good quality. Then replace the PSU down the line.
