    £1700+

Basically, an extra thousand quid for a ten percent bump. Total bargain.

Or, you know, buy a 3080* and the PC to put it in.

*yes, I'm aware th e 3080 isn't available and the 3090 is. Gee, I wonder why?

so i was looking at getting the 3070 ti when it was said to come with 16GB of GDDR6, but now looks to be 10GB of GDDR6X, using the same core as the 3080/90 just cut down instead of a budget core that will be used on 3060 and below.

This new 3070 ti that's slated for the new year is said to RRP at 599 USD, which makes it 100 USD difference, which will likely be £550 vs £650 for the 3080.

The 3070 ti, and 3080 will be pretty much the same card with about 5-10% shaved off in performance. The main thing for me is i want the Founders cooler for the 3080, i think its the best cooler ever made (not nessorsely for raw cooling)
If the 3070 ti has the 3080 cooler then i'm all in, but if not i'll try and get the FE 3080 still, even with the low GPU memory for the money.

As for the 3080ti having what is pretty much confirmed 20GB GDDR6X, to RRP at 999 USD / £899 ish. nothing else is changing but double VRAM. im not going to pay £350 for 10 more gigs of VRAM. that's ridiculous.

I imagine the VRAM premium is to cash in on the deep learning / GPGPU stuff where it's much more important. Nvidia really wants to push their Quadro cards, and have mandated them for datacentres, but individual researchers still go with RTX series GPUs as the marginal improvement isn't worth the extra cost. Although it may just be that VRAM is really expensive.

VRAM is $12 per GB at the moment. So 350 USD is a massive markup over 120 USD

    FTFY.

Probably the most desired GPUs released for years, during a global crisis and when PC gaming is more popular than ever, and Nvidia are not prepared whatsoever for the demand.

Nvidia, we've been angry at you for years for price gouging while you had no competition, now we have another reason to be angry. (IMO)

Go go AMD, take their market share like you have done with Intel.

Yeah, AMD have screwed the pooch on that one. Their launch is arguably worse.

Aye, the way to do that is by launching your own cards that are competitive and readily available...oh.

I hope we are all mature enough to be happy about prioritising a life saving vaccine over shiny computer hardware

Those vaccines got nothing to fear, imaginary GPUs don't take up more than imaginary space:p

    3060 Ti reviews just dropped.

This is the card I would have bought if I had the patience: under £400 and one of best performance per watt, a bit better than 2080 Super.

yeah great card. Will be nice when they are available. I can see a refresh of the 3070 coming, because right now it's utterly pointless.

Stock is the perennial issue, the 3070 in my PC is better value than any card that's out of stock! (plus I paid RRP rather than the +£100 gauging of a lot of the AIB 3070s)

Probably 1pm on Nvidias website, and 2pm elsewhere. Overclockers are saying 2pm but they are also not actually releasing any at 2pm to prevent the website getting over loaded.
