On that subject, I think I'll be going for a J-Hack M2426 unit to reduce the Corsair PSU spaghetti in my M1. Being able to 'lose' 18 cables is a pretty good trick
I keep looking at the J-Hack, but I'm wavering - I keep thinking about a custom length set from CableMod.
Well - I did do some ITX goodness before I sinned. I upgraded my little Mobile Core 2 Duo machine with a T9xxx series chip and 4Gb RAM - and it's ITX in a tiny case. So that's better. The ITX machine in a big case is temporary - until I can find something more suitable (read: I can get another M1). Also - I am still in possession of the RVZ01 - and that's all ITX, baybayyy
[shrug] Case has a solid side panel and it's under my desk - out of sight, out of mind! Of course every time I open the case it bugs the absolute crap out of me!
This bloody case has a window in it. The chuffing graphics card has RGB on it, which I haven't yet worked out how to turn off. I've got old. In my defence, it used to have a Q6600 rig in it until earlier today.
Ok after some careful thought. Kraken x53 and Corsair plat 450w PSU ordered. Plan to cram this all back into the ncase over the holidays.
I've got some of this stuff on the way, with plans to make some custom length cables, so I'll let you know how that goes. I have a good feeling that it should make the 24-pin easy to route, but will have to see. Plus 24 cables for the measly motherboard power does seem excessive anyway. May be a long while before I get round to that though, don't even have my case yet. Just a note in case anyone is interested in Geeek A60 temps, I'm currently getting ~62C CPU / ~70C GPU from playing Cyberpunk, with 3x120mm akasa fans (all exhaust, one is slim) + old scythe shuriken CPU cooler. Good enough for now as a temporary home. Also, anyone have any info on these fans? They look basically identical to my current akasa slim fans (and it seems like fanner is an OEM/rebrand/alternate brand for akasa) but mine are 15mm and these are advertised as 12mm (which is great as it opens a lot more radiators for use on the T1). I've put an order for a couple which should arrive mid Jan, but in the meantime if anyone has any insight?
Yeah I've tried all the thin akasa fans on radiators over the years and all of them were terrible vs "proper" size fan, in my opinion.
I replaced those in one of my builds with Noctuas of a similar thickness. I didn't really rate those particular Silverstone fans.
Yeah, Noctuas seem to be the way to go for slim fans (well, any kind of fan). Main problem for me is that they're 15mm, while the T1 has ~42mm radiator space which means using a slimline radiator. Meanwhile 12mm fans open up the possibility of using regular 30mm radiators which there's a lot more choice. (Plus the Noctuas are really pricey.) As it happens I managed to source on of these which is exactly the 27mm minimum to use with 15mm fans. But always nice to have some options open (such as this which has ports on both faces which enables easy filling/draining).
So I started my rebuild and even took pictures to share, got to the point where I needed to mount the AIO and realised I had changed it from stock to mount the noctua previously. Have put the noctua back on for now. Feels like it's running quieter, new PSU fan I've yet to see spin!
OK, I just made an impulse purchase and ordered one of these: https://iqunix.store/products/itx-case-zx-1?variant=32509636182076
Yeah, it looks pretty cool. Only big downside is the price, which is quite a lot, but I guess it is all-aluminium (even if extruded). That said, probably still going to go with the T1, so not sure what I'll do with it.
