Was going to install it on the eldest's laptop so she can see what life was like in The Beforetimes while doing schoolwork. I've got Windows for Workgroups in DOSbox and a Windows 95 VM on the desktop, so I'll just pull one of those across.

Oh nice - it's certainly very different to now! Those heady days of multimedia CD-ROMs :)

I wonder if using an old Encarta CD would actually provide better and more accurate info than a general google query - I suspect Encarta would be much better for things that happened before 2000.

Oh cripes, I remember that! A godsend for homework. I also remember it had Arnie's most famous quote as a sound file.

My two upstairs BT mini 1gb powerline adapters have decided to drop to about 3mbps.

After the car, tenant-not-tenant, the third thing has arrived.

A slate has come off in the snow and ice on the roof. It's currently stuck in the gutter too far out of reach (but looks pretty stable so hopefully it doesn't take the cat out). At least the roofer has been recommended by one of our nice neighbours and is reasonable apparently. He can't come to have a look until next week though, what with roofs tending to be kinda slippy in the ice...

Mo' money but, again, hopefully not too much and it's just the one slate * crosses fingers *.

That's an arse-ache, but considerably better than the occurrence I suggested above :)

New GPU doesn’t seem to want to play ball.

Worked fine out the box, the audio seemed to be a bit glitchy even after I installed the drivers. As if the system was overloaded? I used to do loads of music on an old pc and after working on a huge piece the audio would go mental... it sounds very much like it

I could move past that but I’m having all kind of issues, random crashing,

Temps are fine, reinstalled Windows, reseated the card... tried fresh drivers.

I’m really bummed out, I’m so close just soooo damn far. Will probably have to whack in the old card for the time being to isolate the GPU as the problem, I never ran the system long enough to identify problems prior to this card

occasionally it seems to work fine, other times not so much. Could 500w not be enough? I checked with a calculator and while it is the top end it has some wiggle room and these crashes are appearing through normal browsing on a fresh install of windows...

People who send emails of things that need blocking in sub five-minute intervals ten times in a row but then go quiet for half an hour, long enough for you to log out of everything, only to start again.

Even more egregious is that these ****sticks have been sitting on them for five days.

Send them all at once, on the day of (Because lord knows they aren't doing **** with them), before I drown someone in a bucket of piss.

Yeah so the roofer is yet to show and the sun sets in 15 minutes.

And three days of torrential rain due, hopefully one missing slate won't cause too much damage....

My fiancée's grandma was just admitted to hospital after a light heart attack and a light stroke. That's the first diagnosis, but we're hopeful it won't be that bad. She is 91, after all.

Come on, it's not even been one and a half years since we lost my mother.

    Ha yeah.

If I had the ladders, the balance and good grip i'd give it a go. Oh and no sense, i'm too old for that schizzle.
