Pretty much very single expert I've heard has said pretty categorically that the speed with which vaccines have been produced has been down to the massively increase impetus and funding speeding up the normal key processes, but without any cutting corners that compromise safety.
I've no interest in getting stuck into another argument. All I've heard is the same about turbo funding being key so I was surprised by what she said. It's called an alternative viewpoint. She's not a public figurehead, she was someone I was asking for a more insightful opinion and her opinion is exactly that - an opinion. I found it surprising but I'm going to do my own research based on it. Feel free to ignore it yourself. We're all capable of making our own minds up.

Just to weigh in on the "my friend works in the industry and says..." group, one of my best mates works for a medicinal testing lab and has been directly involved with the current crop of vaccine development. From how he tells it, it's simply been all hands on deck for it. Usually they have a team of 5-10 people working on each product, most of the time for a couple of years. But in this case they've had the whole staff of several hundred working in parallel since May on it. Everything was put on hold specifically for this case, and the amount of money thrown at it is effectively a blank cheque. He was happy enough that he and his wife have both had it now.
The problem is this: ...when you're just tossing it around as just an alternative viewpoint/opinion. Without being more specific it's potentially dangerous hearsay.
Well, I'll see what else I can find out then. In the meantime, if you think it's hearsay, then treat it as such and ignore it. Danger averted.
For what it's worth, as a frontline NHS worker (yeah, I actually see patients with COVID on the wards) I was offered the Pfizer jab and I said "yes please!". Had it feel fine. My wife (also frontline, has four patients with COVID in her unit right now) also had it, felt rough for a day, now fine. Neither of us have grown another head or something.
Aye, like I said my OH had the 38.6 fever, aches and 100bpm heart rate side effects but was fine a couple of days later. If they're mild symptoms you don't want the full blown thing.
Parents have both had had round 1 of vaccination. Dad, Pfizer a few weeks back and Mum AZ last Thursday. She's feeling a bit ropey at the moment, but not unexpected side effects wise. In oither news, my godfather's wife (80s) has been unwell for a couple of days and was taken in to hospital yesterday afternoon. She tested positive for Covid on arrival. As she's vulnerable, I am really worried about her and my godfather who's coming up 92.

Show me the number of significant negative reactions to any of the vaccines. Show me the total number of vaccines given to date. Divide them. Give me the ******* vaccine.
You do see some effort to conflate normal post-vaccination symptoms with some unknown unspoken side -effect. It's perfectly normal for the any vaccine to have an impact as your immune system is reacting to the vaccine and producing antibodies. This can cause aches, fevers and the rest of the usual symptoms.
I dunno man, some kid gets bitten by a radioactive spider and gets superpowers. Some guy accidentally overdoses on gamma rays and gets superpowers. Some crazy scientist drinks a potion and gets superpowers. I get injected with some experimental vaccine that was fast-tracked through approval and licencing, and... nothing. Didn't even leave a mark. It's ****ing disappointing, is what it is.
It's interesting you say this, sisters friend told my sister the same thing, and she works as a biomedical researcher for one of the drug companies IIRC. Don't think she stated why.
