I know what you mean, but there is enough of that sort of content cropping up and I always enjoy seeing it; legoman's garage kitout, for one. Even Jumeira_Johnny's motorcycle refurb is in interesting sideline that doesn't feel out of place, I've no idea where it's been posted though.

Perhaps you can petition for an off topic build section?

    Hmm, I wonder if...

Hah! That's the "field" and "paul" accounts cracked, just the root user to go. Thanks, hashcat!

Took about half an hour, all told. Man, if you'd told hackers back in the 80s that you could crack three DES passwords in half an hour, they'd have assumed you were lying, working for a TLA, or both.

Not bad for my very first fencing job, I dare say. Learned a lot from this. Still not finished here yet.

That's dope. I like that we're both diving into woodwork. I dislike that you're a professional and I'm totally cackhanded:

I'm not even fishing for compliments, these 45 degree cuts were so atrocious I'm amazed the table stands up. But it does stand up. I'll be putting some removable locking struts going from each leg pair to the end undersides to keep the legs from shifting in when it's up. And tidying the edges, and sanding, and treating. It looks like a right bodge. The satisfaction of sitting down at it was tremendous, though, specially considering it's all reclaimed materials, even the screws. Hasn't cost me a penny unless you count the drill.

Designing my first 3d printable model kit. Currently a shitload of kitbashing and re-sizing, but if I get it right I'll have my own personally-designed APCs for my diorama. Currently trying two different models, open and closed, but closed is winning thus far, but I wonder if I can combine them...

Start a thread called 'Boiled Elephant's Woodworking Extravaganza'.

    I'd read it.

    Me too.

Speaking of which I have kept the comfiest cushions from the sofas we couldn't give away before we moved - I need to find me a wooden chair schematic or some such to make some extra chairs for staring out of the bay window at the stars and bats.

Edit: A 'I have wood' thread?

Looks like you just sneezed at your keyboard, so it's probably fluent Finnish... (I know, we're ones to talk, my wife keeps telling me that English structure makes no logical sense - she's Dutch).

Suns out so, I've kicked the kids outside with their waterpistols. The house is calm and quiet enough to work in.
The dog is not too happy, he's been shot with water a few times.

I mowed the grass this afternoon.

Under normal circumstances this would leave me somewhere between nonplussed and grumpy.

But this was glorious. I'm such a sucker for spring. Right at the start when it's still novel. Flowers in bloom, birds tweeting, sun shining. I might go out again in a bit and pick wild flowers and spin round in a field in a sundress in a particularly picturesque way.

In fairness His Taddiness only said might. There's still the chance he might, in fact, buy an automatic mower for an exorbitant amount of money and then cavort around the garden on it!

Got some tree's felled at the bottom of the garden.

Massive pines, going to have a lot of wood to split!
