So what do people think is the best way to at least be in a preorder queue for the 3080ti? I'm thinking Scan rather than any of the other price hiking retailers!

Based on prices seen throughout the shortage Scan, Aria and Currys are probably your best bet to get one in the same universe as MSRP.

That matches my thinking, Currys have been closest to MSRP as far as I’ve seen, though slightly above, Scan prices started out similar and have been creeping up, but not as much as other places.

CCL, overclockers, Box and most other places really seem to be milking it (though that’s a sweeping statement and therefore there will be exceptions!)

So my EVGA 3080 on Ark survival Evolved is sitting at 100% load constantly... this doesn't seem right - it's putting out a lot of heat (80c) and the fans sound like a rather obnoxious bee... The old 970 only sounded like this after a build up of dust so really can't understand what's going on here...

100% load is correct, otherwise your framerate would drop accordingly. If you want it to use less power and therefore generate less heat, set a framerate cap or power cap. 80C does sound about right at full tilt.

Open HWinfo and check your GPU Memory Junc temp - if the VRAM is hitting the limiter it'll ramp the fans regardless of GPU temp.

I wouldn't bother, you won't be able to get one and they're all be significantly marked up!

Best of luck for those trying though

Yeah, it's not like the nvidia nerfs will put off the bulk miners - they'll hoover up as many as possible and, if the nerfs persist, they'll just scalp the cards.

Totally, my 3090 has so far earned my about £440 in BTC at todays prices, based on nearly 2 months mining, using around £60 of leccy to do it. So assuming around £180 a months profit per card you should be on major bank by the end of the year.

No, you're looking at £200-£230 with a 3090, after electricity costs and assuming no downtime or major fluctuations

My 3070 is averaging around £115/m ignoring electricity costs (~60 MH/s). The 3090 is around 105 MH/S so should be a little less than double.

Oh wow, the price has really dropped! Plus I pay half as much for electricity apparently!

Agree, I'm averaging 110 MH/s actual over the past week, normally I'm around 115 but lost some up time due to a network issue.

I might need to check what I'm actually paying for electric, I may be overestimating.

Yep - and it is currently estimating £222 monthly profit.

It jumps up and down with the value of BTC obvs but, apart from the slump last week, it's been roughly estimating that amount for the last couple of months.

Going by whattomine numbers based on a week:

    3090 = $12 per day mining Eth
$12 at current exchange rate £8.60
    £8.60 x 30 = £258
Knock off £1 a day for electric

So yeah, £220 - 230 sounds about right.
