These are Type 4: "Are you sure you didn't buy these pre-made?"

I even have printable heat shrink.

I lean towards type 4 too. (Soldering used to be my day job for over 20 years).

Surely that would come under type 2?

I get that but would 'it works and I didn't break anything' not cover that. Its generally how I determine success at work.

Big turtle in the cooler. If I can get another it's time for fried turtle.

Yes, I am a Native American. Yes, I eat almost everything. Comes with the territory. And being broke.

    It's coming together!

I have some 6mm OD 2mm ID brass tube on order for the connecting piece at where the blade mounts to the arm piece. I'm expecting to glue it as well, but I'm curious if I've got any screws kicking around that would look good in the recess of the arms that I could tap the brass to accept. Pointless, as it won't move, but still.

...I am fighting very hard to avoid the urge to make a metal one that works.

Edit: What do you get when you cross a borderline hoarder with 3D printed parts?

Lunacy! I remembered I had some RC car nuts and bolts, and figured they might be useful - They were, in part. But with a lining in the hole of the wrist piece, I used to screws from a now defunct chair to bolt it together

    So now it's mobile.

Having a great time in partially open Rotterdam. Even had a beer in the outside seating area of a restaurant today!

Monday I'll start my new job with getting to know the guys, receiving laptop and phone as well as training.

Best thing about it: my new employer pays for the hotel from Friday this week to Saturday next week, which expressly includes my wife. What a nice touch!

Start of a diet, hit the scales over the weekend and toppled the 16st mark for the first time ever.

A general realisation that if I continue down this path not only will it be harder to undo the habits later down the line but the damage may already be done

    Feel motivated!

    and a bit hungry...

Finished my first day of work today. I have a working and 95% set up laptop, a working bright-red iPhone 12 (have to set that up tomorrow and get a charging cable, back in Germany I have to buy a SIM), I have meetings scheduled for the whole week to receive the necessary training to get me started, and I had a great day to boot.

It's still early days (quite literally), but coupled with the 25% wage increase compared to my previous job, this seems like I might've made the correct choices.

Got this wired up and working:

Bought it ages ago back in August last year, but never got round to sorting it out. The Coin/Start button holes are 24mm, but the kit only came with 30mm buttons... I did get some white 24mm buttons and attempted to wire them up to the custom controller but I must have got something wrong because I never did get them working...

While I was getting ready to clean up the "workshop" room (yes, it was that bad that I needed to plan ahead!) I realised that I have a bloody dremel now. The holes that were 24mm are now 30mm and the stock buttons now fit :dremel: :thumb:

Buttons are a bit 'meh' but they work - for £24 you're not exactly going to get genuine Sanwa or Seimitsu arcade parts... Plus it wouldn't be difficult to swap the buttons out, as long as I figure out the wiring.

Wiring the cheap-ass interface board correctly was a massive exercise in frustration however...
