TIL - that despite having a case that holds 280mm rads, and has done so almost all of its life, when you buy another AIO, but this time the same brand as the case, NZXT, only four holes line up and all at one end. Also the tubing is so long on the cooler, it whipped round and took a SATA port off the hotswap board built into the case.
The big name billion-dollar company that I'm having my next interview with was created by a Nazi and began by supplying Nazis their uniforms, tried to close a plant in USA because their employees refused a pay cut from $13 to $8, uses slave labour, and recently killed a 4-year-old boy with a mirror. Job's a job but I know what to expect at least.
Everyone buys everything from China without a care in the world about Uighur Muslim's and their enforced labour. And I very much doubt anyone from the actual company installed (or failed to install as it may be) the mirror that fell over. But yeah, I'd draw the line at the Nazi history, do try not to click your heels when you walk into the room.
While they might not have installed the mirror, they were ultimately responsible for it and its maintenance. They were fined over £1m. The company is also a trademark troll and tries to sue any other company with a name or product containing the word "Boss", like Swansea brewery Boss Brewing.
Whenever this comes up, like 'Sky' having to talk to developers of 'No Man's Sky' for use of the word 'sky', people say they're forced to do it for every silly thing to stay consistent, otherwise others in future can actually take the piss using the name and not get in trouble for it.
Totes get that, and I'm not absolving them of any blame, but you have to wonder how much blame was there to spread around and what punishment was also passed on to the shop fitters.
And you have to wonder what auntie Beeb bent over and took it at their recent court appearance... I'd love to have seen the risk assessments for allowing him to design and make his own crash sled with nothing more than a common kitchen bowl for a crumple zone, and then him and them ignoring commonly known injury mechanisms such as whiplash etc.
On a similar vein, I finally started reading 'IBM and the Holocaust'. There's a sobering book. IBM have dissembled, denied and claimed misconstrual ever since it was first published, rather than simply come clean and acknowledge their mucky past. Makes you wonder how many other massive companies have skeletons in their closet.
Aah, LaTeX - I remember those days Had a friend at uni who wrote her whole masters dissertation in LaTeX, not because she needed any of the fancy formula formatting, but just because she liked the challenge
I'm not sure I even particularly care about the Nazi history - almost every surviving German company was collaborating or supplying the Nazis at some point. Do you refuse to drive a VW, Porsche, BMW or Mercedes? Anyway, today's learning is how much a pain of the arse serializing/deserializing XML can be in C#.Net
I absolutely do, yes. But only 'cos I can't afford to buy one and the buggers won't let me just drive one off the forecourt for free...
