The removable tray was one of the main reasons why I had to have the 840 as a replacement. Unfortunately the 840 is a victim of modern production practices and not built quite as well as the 201 was, the tray is on simple Al runners rather than the very nice bearings that the 201 used and the smoothing of the cut edges inside has not been done anywhere near as well. I mean, it's not an early 2000s OEM level of hand shredding steel chassis, but not great.

Fingers crossed the DLSS-equivalent AMD will release on 22 June is good. Then you'll have a brilliant card instead of a very good one.

One that works would be an excellent improvement! I'm currently PCI-riser cabling an RX550 out the side of the case to get display out. Seems all my fiddling and farting around has made the rather temperamental 5700XT go "No".

With every day that passes, selling my GTX1080 for £260 makes me feel more dead inside. Why... W H YYYYY?

You ordered your thermal pads yet?

BTW you can tell it's from Scan - the corner of my 3090 box was bashed too*. Considering the sheer quantity of bubble wrap you get when ordering an SSD or a few cables, I was appalled by the zero effort when shipping my £1400 3090 FE - they just chucked it in one corner of a box and filled the void with packing paper. Hence the bashed corner.

    * For the pedants: Yes, I know they are the annointed FE distributor in the UK

Perhaps because CEX gave me £315 for mine?

Not yet. I want to see if they've fixed it this batch, as someone on LTT forum said.
Mine was in a slightly larger box with several (but not enough!) strips of those air bags they use.

I've thrown it into the PC, and my 3DMark Time Spy score has gone up from 7563 for the 1080, to 14878 for the 3080. :D

The newer pads are better - there was a marked difference between my 3090s - but I still changed out the pads on the new card and saw a decent improvement.

A new EDC hank for the ol' pockets. Had to get the circuit board design at some point (electrical engineer and all that) and the microfibre backing is great for glasses cleaning. A fiend of mine makes these and sell them through Etsy.

FTTP just became available on my street, so I've booked Sky (who I'm currently buying FTTC from) to come on June 28th, to switch me from 38mb to 145mb for an extra £7/month. :D

UPDATE: Just had the confirmation email from Sky. They say the minimum speed to trigger their guarantee will now be 100mb/s!

    Also, this:-

That's similar to my bandwidth estimates from Sky, basically got 160/30 all day everyday with great latency, they've been a good ISP, I have just left for Virgin which could be my biggest mistake, Sky being so good but its far cheaper so we will see.
