    Evening folks!

When connecting external hard drives to my USB3 case ports on windows the transfer speed is around 37Mb/s, however, when using the same port and external drive in Ubuntu the transfer speed is 197Mb/s.

I've tried different drives, updated my drivers, updated my chipset, and nothing.

    Any ideas?

The issue was resolved by plugging the hard drive into the USB 3.0 port and not the 2.0 port. My eyes aren't as good as they use to be.

Like others I can rest easy, knowing the answer.
Thanks for being so candid, I need to get varifocal glasses...swapping distance to readers and back is a PITA

I'm a couple of years behind you, historically V short sighted. Can do most stuff down to PC screen distance with the main glasses, but deffo ned the 'Eddies' (Reader...) for close work.
I gather varifocals can be a bit of a lottery and to buy the higher grade ones for max flexibility in the right size/shape frames

I got new glasses this year. Four years ago there were three options for varifocals, so I just went with the mid-price option but, this year there are myriad options. They have turned choosing into a minefield.
