Well, it had to happen - damaged in shipping. Chassis is bent and the front fascia had snapped clean off. The panels are mostly fine - deformed at the corners, but I've already sorted those out; and they look like new - no scratches.

I've straightened the chassis, so the panels fit properly - and all the standoff posts for the front fascia were clean breaks, so the epoxy is already applied and I'll leave it overnight.

On the plus side, a few minutes with a lovely chap on Amazon CS chat resulted in a £50 refund.

    I can live with that.

When did Ryobi start spelling their name Draper? You're only letting yourself down here.

Haha, Ryobi one is a cheap one with a flexible stamped metal table, vs a cast alloy one on this. I can get a cast iron one to replace it though which likely will be on the cards.

Stoked about a new AV processor, even more stoked about being able to get one in before the Control4 integrators come next month, saves getting them back in again after the swap.

I've had a dealer tell me they've had one on order for 2 months and I shouldn't get my hopes up getting one before March, and another tell me that there are none available in the country, so was very surprised when one of them dropped me a line to tell me they have one with my name on it.

Jeez, 3 grand for an AV processor! Gorgeous though, definitely my favourite style of minimal flash.

That's pretty much the bottom end when it comes to AVPs - reason being most manufacturers that make one do so based on their top end receiver and then go up from there.

Have a little google for Trinnov Altitude 16 if you want to see the big boy toys. I've been trying to man maths one of those into my life but I just couldn't do it in good conscience. And then know that the Altitude 16 is Trinnov's entry level in a range that goes all they way up to £50k. And then of course you need amps for all those channels too.

That is approximately 3.7 times the amount of money I paid for my car. And 0.66 times the amount I paid for my house.

But if you’re living in that house without 48 channel surround sound, are you really even living?

Fanthorpes in Hull came through. Are you waiting on the 70 or 90?

I’ve got nc502 for the floor channels at the moment and nc252 for height on the way, went with KJF and really pleased so far. “Proper hifi” build quality but priced like some of the “built in a shed” ncore amps.

1 am waiting on the 70

KJF is a good choice its great that he considers actively cooling his ncore amps a good thing

And there is a unique satisfaction in the staggered powerup of the amps he implements with the audible relay clicks, particularly with 14 channels :D

Here's a thing I learned on unboxing this morning to my surprise... even if you probably already know this. I thought you needed to BYO mic with ARC - I think I've just seen something looking like a MiniDSP mic in the literature and assumed it was like Dirac that I've used before. Not only does it come with something that looks to be a rebranded UMIK-1, but comes with a mic stand as well. Nice touch.
