I agree with you but you know what flatpack instructions can be like.

I mean @Gareth Halfacree was supposed to building a coffee table out of that

Nope, that's the design. Speed holes or something, I dunno.

The worst pre-meeting marathon I was in once was:

    • Briefing for the premeeting: 2 x 2 hours
    • Premeeting: 2 hours
    • Briefing of one board member before the meeting 2 hours
    • Actual meeting: 30 minutes
Yeah.... state-owned businesses are burning money by the truck load (or in this cargo train load).

Well, that was as useful and informative as I expected. It quickly devolved into a competition to see who could be seen to be contributing the most to the meeting.

The apparent winner was some gobby cow whose name I don't remember - Lady Cynthia Double-barrel Poshbird, I think.

The work ex-friend says the manager will talk to me "later", but I've waited and who knows how true that is so... I guess it's time to storm the beaches.

I can probably go back to the other job, which was only temporary anyway, that was just to avoid HR paperwork just for 2 days' work. It was worth a punt. Unfortunately this is how casual workplaces can be with hiring people. References aren't used even for management position, interviews can be nonexistant, this is why family members just so happen to work in the same place. "My daughter needs a job" "ok she's hired".

The job offer didn't come through Facebook, it was in person during our 'meeting but not an interview'. It's just my only communication and updates have been through my work friend on Facebook. Either she's lying or he's a coward.

My 'interview' was just me sitting there while the guy sold the job to me and then that it'll be confirmed. They don't have any other real candidates, I think the other two had half-completed contacted details and just a bad CV.

Well that's just shitty of them then to renege on an offer made. I tend to take people at their word but when it comes to jobs I wait for the paperwork to be done before making any moves at my current role (but I'm a pessimist always!).

So the work friend is kinda crazy. I still have an interview though. :hehe:

Turns out they never reneged. Well, kinda, since I haven't got it yet. But the manager wanted my friend to check if I was happy to go ahead still, and that I can cancel if i like. Instead she sent me the generic rejection message.

Fuel prices rose by 2p overnight. Again.

This is getting ridiculous. Especially with the proposed increase in national insurance.

Fair bit of pain at work today, couple of episodes of the nasty pain spikes, think I covered it though. Not helped by accidentally undoing a massive rec and having to stay late to get it finished. Well, I didn't have to, but extra effort when you're vying for a permanent contract never hurts.

Get home to find the letter from my pain team appointment has finally come through, 2 months to the day since the actual appointment itself. Should now be able to get some lidocaine patches for when things get a bit much. However, the letter contains many, many inaccuracies. It's says I had a hip operation in my early twenties, confusing my current hip complaint and the shoulder op I had in my mid twenties, bundled into the sentence about my near fatal head injury that was in my early twenties. It talks about how I used to play golf but haven't been able to do it as much, instead of "at all for nigh on 4years". Underplays the malpractice and butchery from the first pain specialist, makes a feeble attempt at conveying the abject misery I have endured, fails to mention my inability to do the prescribed physio because it makes my knee feel like it will explode, completely ignores the bit about how one of the other hospitals in the trust forgot to do a key part of the operation, did a ****ing **** job on what they did do and shoved me out the door like I'd just had a paper cut bandaged.

What's the chances.of getting it re-written this century?

I'm a little confused to be honest. You have a pain team..like those exist? And knowing they do it seems yours has no idea what it is you deal with on the daily. I feel like this is a fake pain team. I've damaged tendons in my knees and one elbow. I KNOW pain. These guys passed a written test and then farted or something. Am I wrong?

They're called the pain team, but it's essentially a department, like ENT, ITU, Orthopedics etc., but uses a few different departments. I had a consultation with a nueropathic doctor (at least I presume/hope he was) to discuss the physical aspect and possible solutions for the pain, and then a psychologist to talk about how the pain was affecting my mental state. After hearing what I've been through the last few years, at the end of the call she started crying before she disconnected. There were some technical issues that meant my video feed wasn't getting through to them, despite me being able to see me and them, maybe she presumed I couldn't see her or maybe my story is just that upsetting that she couldn't hold back the tears long enough before hanging up.

I'm quite graphic and detailed when describing the pain, I'm not sure how "feels like a dull white-hot electrified poker is shoved through my groin" can be taken lightly, especially when put into context that I am no stranger to hospitals and pain. I have at least had my prescription upped a little, which my doctor ended up doing at my request as they'd not yet had the letter, and I can now get something to help when the pain gets too much. Lucky also that I've not been sitting round for 2 months waiting for them to do something and have been working as hard as my body will allow to get into a state where working full time is just about bearable.

I know the NHS is underfunded, and that the doctors and nurses are overworked, but to be continually ****ed around, fobbed off or just plain ignored is infuriating. I'm just here to vent the fury at a server in an office block somewhere, rather than at the staff themselves.

One of our legacy CMSs is going nuts again, crashing multiple times a day. Can't wait till we finally get rid of this one. Adobe CQ5 if anyone's interested.

Had a bit of a disagreement today, think this is the first heated errr conversation? I’ve had with someone more senior than me.

I think he wasn’t expected me to pipe up and stand my ground. Ended with him laughing and joking like we’d brushed it under the carpet and in some ways we have. But I still am really pretty ****ed off about it

Really showed a distinct sense of accountability, felt like he was laying blame left, right and centre everyone had messed up besides him when we’d only ever done what he asked. Real mood drop in the team and I wasn't having it. People make mistakes but generally we own up to it, not him.

More to hash out but prefer to do it face to face when he’s more local so I don’t have to deal with his stupid giggling and sidetracking
