    The flare gun in Blood

Dual 1911s in The Specialists. Nothing quite like getting a bullet time power up (also a worthy mention), diving off a church balcony and wailing .45 slugs into your opponents in slow motion. I had a full Castor Troy model for these and in counter strike to replace the desert eagle. So cool.

CS Paintball guns in Swat 4. Was always cool to get a level cleared using only non lethal weapons. Occasionally some friendly fire would occur if you shot them a bit too close to a team mate. They might retaliate with a paintball of their own, or a beanbag shotgun round to the balls. Sometimes it would devolve into non-lethal PvP, terrorists would here the commotion, so now it was PvPvE and much fun and laughter was had.

M14 in cod blops. Always played in hardcore mode. The recoil on it meant that if timed right, you could quickly real of 2 rounds and that's would be a guaranteed kill. One to the chest, one to the head, opponent dead.

Oh yes! The binoculars from IGI have to get a mention, turn any weapon into a sniper rifle. Zoom in, place crosshair on enemy head, carefully switch to a weapon without moving the mouse, even a Glock would suffice, and the guaranteed first round accuracy would result in a headshot and death. Switch back to binoculars, watch all the men run round like headless chickens trying to work out where it came from.

    Impact hammer (UT3):

Charge it up, then simply run around like a crazy person until someone is unfortunate enough to make contact: GIBLETS! Unless they have full healthy and armour, there's no way they're surviving it. Skill? None required.

    Biorifle (UT3):

Yeah, so another one from UT3, and also a charge up weapon. I just loved the satisfaction of landing a full goo shot on an enemy, and that second or so before the inevitable death. IIRC, I don't think it was survivable short of having invulnerability active, or somehow killing yourself before the goo detonated.

    Mammoth tank (Red Alert):

Yes, I know it was in the original game first, but I played Red Alert first when I was young, and the Mammoth tank will always hold a place dear in my heart. Great fun to spam as the evil Ruskies, a nightmare to deal with as the brave Allies.

    Lancer (Gears of War series):

'Nuff said. Take that you Locust scum! Although it turns out the Locust weren't actually evil, just trying to survive...

Intimidator or Big Bertha (Total Annihilation)

Before Total Annihilation, RTS games were weird little things where everything seemed to have a tiny range compared to real life, to keep the action on screen.

    Then Total Annihilation existed.

I'll never forget firing the Big Bertha for the first time. I was confused as it didn't start shooting at stuff - it's set to 'hold fire' by default. So, I switched it on to 'fire at will' and watched as it slowly turned and aimed...then shot at the enemy base many, many screens away across the map. The shell instantly annihilated a manufacturing plant, as well as the units surrounding it. A few minutes later, and the enemy base had been decimated. Then I learned about setting up Bertha batteries, which was a whole new level of destruction. Of course, the Vulcan was introduced in The Core Contingency, but that's a story for another day...

The nukes also get a mention because it was the first time a nuke was actually devastating, as opposed o the C&C nuke which was slightly more effective than coughing at something (current circumstances excepting).

Used to go round my brother's a lot on a friday, he had 2 rigs as him and his Mrs would play games most nights, but Fridays for her were a family night. Would be hours of CS, DOD, TS, Swat 4, Raven Shield&Urban Operations, GRAW, quake 3 with Bender shouting bite my shiny metal ass at everyone. Can you tell we liked shooters? :hehe:

Laptop guns in Perfect Dark co-op.
Energy Sword in Halo 2 PVP
Sticky Bombs - Halo (or anywhere else for that matter)
Time Crisis light guns in the Arcades... I'd seen the film Seven recently and I tried to copy Brad Pitts gun posture... Wife at the time said she loved me doing that - I reckon she really thought I was a silly ****!

Ah the laptop guns! Yes! They were awesome.

All the energy weapons in turok. Pretty sure one of them was a nuke launcher, and the particle accelerator I think is the one that stops them in their tracks, crispens then explodes them.

I totally forgot about voice pack mods. I use to play U.T. loaded with them, mostly Futurama but there were others that I don't recall any more. Nothing was more satisfying than hearing "Good news everyone" following a kill.

We were playing FEAR last night at the first LAN night in a while. I agree that the Type 7 Particle weapon is a beast.
Our host knows the maps better than the rest of us and invariably gets to it first...
It does go by a different name with us though, the onomatapoeic name of dammit you've got the Gazibbeler!
