IIRC one political commentator described this as the 'tinkerbell effect'... In order for an upset like this to be possible, enough voters have to believe it's possible and vote accordingly... If they don't think it'll happen, they won't vote in a way that could make it happen...
All that tweet shows is that, incredibly, neither were the worst their party had to offer. Labour rolled out Corbyn and the Tories responded with May, after poshboy shat his pants and ran away to hide in a gypsy trailer, then they strongly and stably grasped the initiative and doubled-down with Clown Shoes.
Sitting PM and Chancellor fined for breaking the law. The usual faff and waffle sorry, move on. It won't wash, again add it to the list of lies but more importantly there were people who couldn't be with dying loved ones because of the rules he imposed and broke. There may be more fines to come. If we can't trust him to follow rules he created how can he be trusted on anything even by the most loyal supporters.
But there's a war* on... And changing PM during a war would be irresponsible** *that we're not directly involved in. **except 1916, and 1939, and 1945, and 1990, and 2007, and 2010, and 2017, and 2019
Hist most loyal supporters are like Trumpists, they don't care, they don't want to care, he is their guy and they'll follow him all the way off the cliff. If only that was literal. As for the next election, 2024 is a long time away still, he'll win it with the following stories. Labour intends to force us back into the EU without a vote. Keir Starmer let Jimmy Saville get away. Massive tax increases with a vote for labour. Massive tax reductions with a vote for Conservative. The post truth political cycle will continue until someone drives a car bomb into Boris.
No variant on 'vote kier, get corbyn'? or 'in the pocket of the SNP' type stuff? Also you forgot - 'Labour caused the 2008 banking crisis' 'Blair, remember him? What a prick.' Labour are/will be soft on Russia. Something about 'woke' Also the culture war topic du jour: 'Labour don't know what a woman is'
Ok, even if you follow the track of believing him (I know, I know, stick with me) then the fact that it didn't 'occur' to him that he was breaking his own laws must be worrying. An open admission of not having an understanding of laws he's implemented, I mean heaven forbid he has to understand something complex.
Nail on head. We had zero chance of moving house without the sale of our property, which is where the £40K deposit came from. Solicitors' fees came to just over £4K for the entire selling / buying process, and we moved into a £200K renovated house that had brand new everything - kitchen, bathrooms, boiler etc. It is a small property, and I had to split the downstairs bedroom into two rooms so that my wife and I could have a study in which to work (we both currently work from home). Buying a suitable 4 bedroom house was out of the question on our budget - we are stretched as is. Oh, and we really struggled even to get this place because we were competing against people looking for "a nice second home" or "a holiday cottage." We were outbid two times, and on one of these occasions it was because "the seller received a (frankly) silly offer that they just couldn't refuse," our solicitor was told. £250K for a property valued at £200K. IMO who we vote for doesn't matter, because the power in this nation comes from money, not government - which will always be subverted one way or another.
In a way it doesn't matter, in a way it does. Give some of them an inch and they'll take a mile, sell it off and charge you for the handling fees. I've deleted a rant about the current lot, it'll give me an aneurysm.
Having a written one wouldn't help any... *gestures at the US*... ...Trump could have [and still might if he gets reelected] literally wiped his arse with the constitution and the GOP would've stood and applauded. Rules, conventions, and laws only matter if they're enforced.
Even if it matters little, I'd still rather vote for who I think is the least worse than have my non-vote spread evenly amongst the lot of them.
Tweet— Twitter API (@user) date The second Justice Minister to resign under Johnson's 'leadership'. Nice to see someone gives a crap about justice and democracy. Edit: and I don't take any of this - they can't leave now, crisis, war - nonsense. That attitude would have seen Chamberlain take us into WWII and by being inept, lying and breaking the law they have no moral authority on any stage.
So now sending asylum seekers to Rwanda is the big Tory idea. Besides every other reason that is such a stupidly impractical and expensive idea it's obviously primarily a distraction technique.
Announce a big clown shoes operation then sneak in some evil sh!t on the down low while everyone is looking the other way? It's called Tory doctrine.
