To quote the late George Best:

“I spent a lot of money on booze, birds, and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.”

Nah. 2 weeks for a BACS transfer. I guess a lot of people had to sign off on it.

What's even the point of winning any money whatsoever if they don't hand it over with a giant cardboard cheque :/

They always make out you can get it the same day.

Mind you a Deliveroo driver rocking up with 90k in used notes may be a bit impractical and raise a few questions.

Cat has been to the vet and her ears are finally clean after two separate twice daily weeks of trauma for all of us.

    Thank feck for that.

I completely forgot that I'll get part of my bonus for 2021 from my former employer. Those Euros will come in handy, thank you very much.

Very nice dinner out with good friends. Even the ridiculous amount of leg pain was not enough to dampen my spirits.

Auto renewal insurance quote for my motorbike coming in at 80 quid cheaper than last year, which is nice as it saves messing about with comparisons and playing phone ping pong to get them to match.

Yeah the FCA clamped down on "price walking" at the start of the year: https://www.westerntelegraph.co.uk/news/19820319.fca-insurance-rules-price-walking-come-play/. Insurers can no longer make renewals more expensive than what they would charge a new customer. If you stuck with the same policy and the same insurer for years and years because "it's only a few quid more this year" then you'd often find yourself paying way over the odds after a couple of years.

Our home insurance renewal has come up and they seem to have got around the "price walking" ban by discontinuing the insurance product and replacing it with... one that's more expensive.... and has lower levels of cover... I stuck with the same insurer and the same policy for a long time: I used to work for the claims department at that insurance company, so I knew the product inside and out. What it covers, how much it covers, what it excludes, etc, etc.

I put up with their gradual price increases, knowing full well I'm paying over the odds, for over a decade. But if they're gonna yank that product off the market and charge me more for less then f' 'em - I'll go elsewhere and get the cover I need much cheaper. Our home insurance (contents, personal belongings, and pedal cycles) renewal quote was £400 for the year; I need to read the terms and cover levels properly, but through a comparison site I was quoted ~£90 for the same cover.

We're going to start trying to pay for insurance annually where we can. It's cheaper because you're not charged interest, and the amount it frees up every month is much more valuable to us than the once-a-year annual premium payment.

No I don't work for a price comparison site, whatever the gave you that idea... :worried:

Ouch, IIRC (and I may not as the wife deals with this one) I think ours is usually circa £100 pa

After rechecking the renewal note I'm of the same mind for this, knocks off £20 credit fees / interest, which makes it £100 less expensive than last year.

We bought some tri-colour salad (three types of green leaf lettuce kind of salad, basically) in France in a supermarket because it just looked really fresh and tasty. We used it today and learned that the reason for its freshness is that it is sold with the roots intact in earth. So we used the outer leaves only (delicious) and planted the trifecta of salad-y goodness in a large pot to keep it alive and maybe we'll now have fresh salad for weeks.
