Right well that went to crap. Waited 5 days, then got a refund which will take three days to return to my bank account. Asshats. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-C2...1&keywords=240hz+curved&qid=1586733384&sr=8-1 Could have been a blessing in disguise though, no? that sure sounds like a better monitor to me.
In my mind 1080 is for 24-25" screens, 1440 is for 27-32" screens and 4k if for 32"+, because then you end up with around the samne DPI as 1080 on a 24" which to my eyes is the sweet spot!
Nearly all new titles can be scaled internally. If not? then there's DSR. I have a 25" 1080p monitor here at my mother's and I never run games at 1080p on it.
It looks better, though. The problem I have is I don't want a 32". I want a 27, curved. I don't want a 4k monitor as I had a 28" 4k and it was only good for gaming and put ridiculous strain on the GPUs. It was a costly experience. Yes, I know I have a 2080Ti, but I don't want it to be struggling from day one. Optimally I would like 1440p, curved, etc. It's not easy ! The delay has allowed me to save more, but I really don't want to spend on stuff I don't really care too much about. This happens every time I look for a monitor, because usually what I want doesn't exist. Or costs too much, or is made by someone like Acer who I would rather avoid. 32" is the entire width of my desk, leaving me with 0 space for anything. So as you can see the ROG headset is continually being knocked over onto the armchair which is annoying. So what do I do? buy a bigger desk and a new monitor? then I encroach into the kitchen, something I don't want to do. Plus I don't need a bigger desk, I want a smaller monitor. And then of course there are the logistics, anything I buy has to go up 8 flights of stairs. So if I buy a new desk the old one has to go, it's just major aggro. Plus with everything going on right now... IDK, it gives me time to think I suppose.
Actually looking at that again the huge honking speakers make it much wider. Which raises another issue. That's currently the mid range and tweeter to go with the Bose sub. Ugh.
Its the curve that gets ya, as I can't see an 27" IPS curved on the market! Otherwise that Samsung looks great for the money if you're happy with VA
Well one thing that time and what's going on atm does is allow me to save up more cash. If I hold out til next weekend I may be able to step up a level or two. Seen a couple of AOC I like but they're not out yet. That said I hope I can get a Dell or something. We'll see.
OK well that should be about that. Went for the XG32VQR OCUK have no stock left, but CCL did. Cost me £20 more overall but hey, hopefully that will be that.
Meh tbh I am not really sold on the looks. In fact I almost pulled the trigger on a Razer Raptor, just because of how plain it was. Had it been £100 cheaper I probably would have gotten it, but just couldn't justify that much money on a 27" no matter how good the screen is.
Recently I wanted to buy this Monitor too but as someone mentioned 1080p on a 27-inch monitor doesn't look that great. Since my budget was limited I've gone for the AOC CQ27G1 and I have to say I didn't regret it.
Nice ! Strangely a long while after I last posted here I actually found a Razer Raptor 144hz for £350. So with it being IPS I now have the best of both worlds with the Asus. TBH I can't really say I prefer either VA or IPS. I know people say it's clear cut but I really don't think so.
IPS panel has the best colors and best viewing angles. Its primary purpose is photo processing (work in photoshop), design, etc ... and generally, everything where you need to see a color in a realistic view. Dominant in that field is, for example, DELL with his U series (this one is superb https://productz.com/en/dell-u4021qw/p/K2ANn). IPS also has the slowest panel so it isn't best for gaming.
