The "real" Aston Martin or B spec car will be raced at Barcelona by Stroll the younger. Supposedly they've successfully copied the Ferrari. https://thejudge13.com/2022/05/13/f...reaks-cover-but-is-for-lance-stroll-only/amp/ B spec cars aren't anything new but I can't help feel this is a move of desperation.
So Tracing Point have fired up the photocopier again. ...that must surely have taken a decent bite out of the budget allotment for the year. Oh and +1 for stroll will probably wreck it... no doubt breaking components they don;t have spares of in the process...
That's assuming their photocopier worked correctly and he can get close enough to crash. I can see them taking a step backwards while they iron out issues and understand the car characteristics and setup
Problem is it will cost them a fortune in wind tunnel time to understand it properly. And if they can't get it to work...
The Mercedes wasn't bouncing very much today, Hamilton and Russell were sporting the biggest grins, like, sh*t eating pez dispenser type smiles. If this carries over into tomorrow it might be time for for RB and Ferrari to start worrying.
Max throwing his toys out of the pram when things aren't going his way. RBR doing performative moaning over the radio. Shafting their second driver. Classic RBR.
Understandably being annoyed at something "simple" not being fixed and bog standard team orders. We all know who's the No1 and no2 drivers, it's hardly surprising they make the most of leclerc's dnf. Nothing more than bog standard F1. Lewis wanting to quit after 3 laps was shocking though. Even with a now half decent car under him, he knows he's not in the championship and just isn't interested in not winning. Great drive in the end and shame an engine problem robbed him of 4th place. Stellar drive from Russell again. People were worried about how he'd do stepping up to Merc, but if anything he's gained another level. Sad times for leclerc who was coasting to another win before his turbo went whizz-pop, whizz-bang. Sainz a solid drive after that spin.
I wouldn't say shocking, saving the engine when you're a minute behind didn't seem like a bad call considering the temps etc and what is coming next, when you look at performances this year I didn't expect him to get a point, decent recovery in the end of course.
It's shocking given his usual determination to fight back through the pack and get whatever result he can. How many times over the last few years have we seen him fight back after a spin or getting nudged of on an opening lap to win or get on the podium, especially so early in the race with possiblity of a safety car etc. His head and/or heart just isn't in it now.
Typical F1 politics, the budget cap got in because of Covid and the real threat that Haas, Mclaren and Williams just wouldn't be there in 2021. Now the crisis is (mostly) over and it's right back to politics to let them spend their way to success all over again. If Liberty have any balls they'll call Red Bull's bluff over this, but I doubt they will. If it was me I'd cut another $million off the cap this year just to mess with them.
But the other teams agree with me --Horner ...sure, bc the other teams are gonna turn down extra budget, whether they strictly need it or not. They'd probably just as readily watch RBR [or merc... or ferrari...] suffer bouncing off the budget cap.
