I would think that basically everyone has at least one crap room in their house. Going outside is awfully inconvenient

The ratio between crap rooms and great rooms is often an unfortunate balance here.

Unless we're going somewhere then apparently that's when we have to keep them looking their best.

Still yet to work out the logic of that one.

The same logic that has you doing all of the jobs that you've been putting off for years for the benefit of the next people when moving out.

I routinely call my 'office' my 'crap room' because it's full of.. Stuff.

I need a much larger 'crap room' though.

    OT:
    128gb SSD's
    DL380 G8
    G8 drive caddy's
Aluminium extrusion to mount it vertically and stand on the floor.

A TPLink X605 to hopefully effortlessly mesh with a TPLink X72.

    Wow, that was a score.

When I bought my phone (ROG Phone III) I had a look at the accessories and laughed. £60 for a fan that cools the back. £100 for a controller, £300 for the second screen. Whilst all seemed a bit stupid the screen was the most drool worthy. It's a 6.1" AMOLED 144hz display, the exact same one found in the phone. But £300 lol.

Any way, I was dossing around on Ebay a couple of days back and discovered this.

I couldn't believe my eyes. I nearly bought it right there and then, but decided to wait until I at least could pay for it without using my savings. So at 2am when I got paid this morning I went to buy it and discovered it had a 15% off voucher on it LOL.

    I feel like I've robbed someone !

    Plumbing B-S.

    With extortionate "priority" shipping.

Because plumbing sucks. And I hate it.

Still investigating how to make the youngest's room not absolutely reek of ciggies. Tried the bowls-of-vinegar trick, but it's too bad for that. Activated charcoal? Nope. Baking soda on the carpet? Nowt doing. A full bottle of HG Top Strength Stink-Be-Gone spray? Stink be not gone.

We're going to wash the walls and cupboards with sugar soap and get the carpets shampooed, but I think it's going to take still more. So, had a hunt for odour removal services. One of the few that came up as covering this area: Rentokil, surprisingly.

Got in touch with the local franchise holder, and he'd basically come and set up an ozone generator. No guarantees that it'd work, and you still pay even if the room still stinks afterwards. So...

Dodgy Chinese ozone generator. Cheaper than getting Rentokil in, I get to keep it afterwards, job's hopefully a good 'un.

Though, yes, I am aware of the dangers of ozone and the potential damage it can do to things like paintwork and plastics if used in excess. I'mma seal the door with tape and vacate the premises overnight once the run's finished, then air it out properly. No sense worrying too much about the paintwork, 'cos if we don't fix the smell we can't use the room anyway - it's horrid!

I've often wondered how well those things kill odours - I see detailers use them semi-regularly on old cars.

Might be worth looking into car cleaning products, those are often passably good at cigarette stink removal. Although IME most of them smell like some synthetic version of a berry, which is.. Arguably worse. But. That fades pretty quickly.

I did find a thing called an ODOUR BOMB, which sounds satisfyingly impressive - but I dunno how much I trust it to actually eliminate the smell rather than just cover it up.
