I only find it acceptable when on the side of a snowy mountain.

But then there'll be less of them soon.

Yes, my wife is from Singapore, and when I'm there, the fact that it goes dark at 6:30ish all the time, regardless of time of year I can never get used to. I love the light evenings at latitude.... I just hate the payoff in winter.

Flickr logs me into some rando's empty account instead of the Pro account I've been paying for since 2014.

Got another funeral to go to.

A very dear friend lost her decades long fight with Chron's disease over the weekend. She was in hospital for some surgery that was hoped would help things, but after 14 hours of surgery and the damage that had been done in recent years by the Chron's, she just wasn't strong enough to pull her way out of the post surgery recovery.

She was one of the very first internet friends that I had the pleasure of meeting in person and was part of a pagan interests Yahoo group that was instrumental in me meeting my wife when she came over from The Netherlands for another group member's wedding, stopping via Nottingham on her way back home. Funeral is on the 26th and that is not going to be an easy time, been to that crematorium far too many times now.

I do have other things to rant about, but not here at the moment.

Yay! Let's add Plantar fasciitis to the list of **** I have to deal with. I know I need to lose weight, bit I'm just so ****ing hungry constantly. It's unbearable at times. I've found gum can take my mind off it, but then too much and the sweeteners go straight through me and cause problems at the other end. Joy!

I’ve had that twice. Key to getting rid of it, is to carefully stretch the tendon often.

Technically I'm west of North Yorkshire. At least, by name.

    Careful... that's almost Lancashire...

But it always irks me that what most deem 'The North' is a solid 100+ miles south of here [Tyne and Wear], and there's still an entire county between here and Scotland.

Here be nothing, not even dragons.

    Grim, innit?

I take some small amount of solace in the fact that the temperature is going to calm its t!ts next week.

As a veteran of too many i-series LANs* where melting temperatures were par for the course (even outside summer) I am coping. I was molded by the heat and nerd sweat!

But yeah, its a bit toasty in the attic room / office

*though its been a while since I went to one

Yup, currently 33.8 degrees in the office here. Not allowed to have a/c in case somebody complains that they are cold... It got up to 40.1 during the July highs.

Still, only 40 minutes until I can make my way home and have 20 to 30 minutes (hopefully) of cooler air in the car before being back in the 30s again at home. It was 31 all night in the bedroom and that's with an evaporative cooler running all night... Really looking forward to the rain next week, although it does take a little while for the house to cool down, 10" thick concrete outer walls make for a hell of a thermal mass...
