fryed power supply help!!!

    iv just upgraded my processer from a 700mhz to a 1000mhz amd duron for the first 10 second this worked fine then smoke started to rise from my power supply

    what went wrong???

    p.s. power supply = 300 watts

    What power supply? Was the motherboard fit for that processor? Was the fan in the PSU working? The PSU could of shorted, overheated, or had to much strain on it.
