I think jazzle has the right idea, cut a 70mm hole in a piece of acrylic, then run a router with a chamfer bit around the edge to blend it into an 80mm hole.

Kong, ya beat me to it - that's exactly what I was thinking about earlier ;)

Was trying to find some templates for 70mm and 80mm grilles, but your pic is better quality that i could have done (as I only have MS Paint installed ATM !!)

    *kong bows*

Shogun, a big block of acrylic is gonna cost you some even before machining, so if you are skint, you must make do with what you have. It may be an idea to simply make a 70mm hole in a piece of metal/plastic drill the two sets of mounting holes for each size fan, and call it done. Once the fan goes on, you shouldn't see it anyway.

If you use the body of the 80mm fan as a template, there should be no problem...

and thinking about it I may try this method with my own case - using an undervolted 92mm or even 120mm fan to reduce the noise from cooling my CPU ??

my 70mm fan is the only one in the house without a grill on it ... it makes less noise without it ... and when i crank it up to 6k it screams as it is ..

i want to make a 70mm<92mm adaptor for it ... with a 15 deg. rise towards the rear ... i love my volcano7+ heatsink, but i am growing weary of the fan it came with :(
