    I knew I forgot a pict... :duh:
There are felt pads along the stationary rails for the LCD to glide on.

Ahh, the simple solution usually is teh best :thumb:.

I was just looking at the LCD pics and noticed some scratches on the edges... maybe you tried it first without the pads ? :naughty:

is there any secret to keeping the lcd on the rails and stopping it from popping out if its pulled to far?

Only idea i had would be to try to find a U bracket with a slot which runs the length of the peice but isnt open at either end - then for the L bracket drill say 2 holes in it and have a nylock nut and bolt with washers on either side to keep it together.

Any other suggestions? Also any ideas on how to make it spring loaded?

    Thanks

Sorry for delay. Got a UPS shipment friday from USPlastics. Should have some updates by 1/24. Updates should include...elevated motherboard, stealthed PSU and front acrylic panel attached.

Now THIS is a project that I am interested in :D Very fascinating work! Just out of curiosity, or you going to put a paint job on that sucker? It just wouldnt be a RIG without a high quality Bondo Job ;)

Keep up the excellent work! This is one thread I know I will be subscribed to through completion ;)

:worried: errrrrr I mean the 25th...and after a days work on it...late on the 25th. Lots of issues along the way. My plan for attaching the front panel to the cube back fired so I'm back to the drawing board.
 I did however get a great idea for the res. Picture a 7" x 2 1/2" acrylic cylinder suspended above the cpu. spooky thought, I know.

Ouch. sucks about the front panel dealy. What happened? In what way exactly did it backfire? i dont know if I personally could do much of anything, but letting us know what is wrong (with pictures, of course) might allow some of the good people on these forums to give you some assistance. Keep up the good work, and dont give up!

Trust me when I say that if I do find myself backed in a corner I will ask for some assistance but no worries. Problem resolved. Picts on the way.

Ok...didnt get as much done as I hoped but here is a small update.

Spent most of the day answering questions like "will that actually fit(answer was no) or how am I going to attach that (answer still unclear) but all in all alot of things were figured out.

These picts show how I managed to attach the front acrylic to the cube. The main goal of this project is no showing screws so it needed to be attached from the inside.

I cut small acrylic squares then threaded them. These sqaures will be attached to the front panel with acrylic cement. Holes were drilled and squared off in the front upright supports for the sqaures to come thru then secured with homemade U brackets.
