This projekt i started for two reasons 1. I had nothing better to do, 2. I wanted to try to get the computer operating at a lower noise level. So what i tried to do is constructing a watercooled case with one 5.25"-slot for my cd-r and 3 watercooled and noice dampened hdd-slots. The material im building in is 3mm aluminium and a couple of metres 10*10*1.25mm aluminiumprofile. The mobotray i stole from an old computer and the waterblocks im going to use is from acuacomputer. The pump is from sicce (nova) and the hdd-block im constructing myself of old stuff i found. The radiator is of some sort taken from a car. My requerement of the case is not i repeat not to make the flashiest case with the most details, just to make a case i can have in my room (student room 4*3,5m) without driving me mad with the noise btw do not complain about spelling or gramar, i know its not that good. Look at the pictures if you cant stand the text. Now to the building of the case. As i said im making the case in 3mm aluminium, basicly it is a case in 2 pieces and som junk in betwen, i starded with cutting out the holes for mobotray, psu, cdrom and radiator. The fit was not perfekt so i had to adjust a little bit abt 1/2 mm on the back of the top piece. A test mount of the mobotray, the radiator and the PSU, here i also have stabilisated the case with aluminiumprofile. The mounting of the radiator i did as follows in the next two pictures. More to come soon.
Some nice metalwork skills you've got there It's funny how the simplest ideas such as your one are often those which produce the best results. I know you're not going for anything flashy but a case like the one you're making will certainly draw a lot of attention. Good luck with the case, I look forward to seeing how it turns out! -Sam
<slightly off topic/> Do you know what brand mill that is? I am looking for one about that size and it looks like it does nice work. Is that your mill? If it is I am so jealous. Did you take classes to learn how to mill or did you teach yourself? I am teaching my self right now and I was wondering if there are any books that you suggest on the topic. </slightly off topic> Oh, and I really like the work that you have done so far it really appears that you have an eye for quality.
No idea what brand of mill it is. milled at my fathers work. I have done more on the case, just minor things left. I just have to take my time to sort the images and write some.
