Hi peeps! Here goes WHAT IM MODDING So to start, firstly lets begin with the system SN45G Shuttle XPC XP2800+ 2 x 512MB Corsair platinum XMS 3200 40gig Maxtor Diamond Plus 7200rpm 120gig Hitachi 7200rpm Saphire Radeon 9700pro Pioneer 105 dual dvd writer Slk800 2 x Shuttle psu's INSPIRATION So why do this ppl think that the shuttle is already a nice case! Not me yes its nice, but it can be better MUCH better in fact. I stubbled accross http://213.221.104.186/pcmax/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=85 !!! and was I was very impressed by all mods but 1 for me stuck out the most and that was project by benny Digistation v2 So this is where my project starts....well kind off, in a week jack
pretty - is that perspex? you can set transparency in sketchup, would show how it'll look very well, and we'd love to see... edit: best pics (that I found) of... Benny's Digistation are here. AlexG's Aero: here. Bambi's Time Shuttle: here
Looks a very good design. The insides get cramped quickly (moddin' an XPC myself atm). The extra PSU will come in handy! What is the extra bottom section of the case for?? Good luck -cLoWn
Why don't you sleeve the usb and firewire(is there any?) cables too? Those ugly gray cables don't look so nice in middle of that nice blue cable mess
Update 1 Ok guys here is the first update for this log i hope you like it! and that it makes up for the loss of ClearLi Making it all fit So to begin, i was planning on putting watercooling into this shuttle but atm i really cant perhaps when the log is finnished i will draw my attention to watercooling! but for now im just gonna have to make do with a SLK800 in there So here it is fitted in all its glory! ooppss we have a slight problem here dont we! So here's how i overcame the problem! firstly i marked the clearing distance! I also decided to get rid of the access from the sides, Next i got out my drill and followed the lines drilling holes out as i went Once i had done that i took away the not needed piece of the cage to leave a big mess! I quickly sort that problem out and after around 20mins had sanded away most of the sharp edge's Once that was done i tested to make sure things were going right
The fan grill Next inline was the grill at the back of the shuttle Nasty I quickly masked this area off and marked out where i was cutting I then cut out the area! and sanded again the sharp edges You may be thinking that the edge's seemed alittle ruff and not straight well TBH they are but i dont care im not gonna see them! So internally we have this so far im guessing that the DVDrom & HDD will be going forward alittle bit more once the front has been attached anyway pics And i leave the first update with a sneak at the next Cheers for looking JACK
Looking really good... this must be one of the older shuttles because all the new ones come with the heatpipe style coolers for the cpu... good job
This one did too - He's just not using it. I keep thinking about modding my shuttle too. Nothing extreme - just bigger ventilation holes, a little window and some lighting and - that new 250 watt 'silent' power supply and passively cooled radeon 9600 AIW. Looks good so far - keep it up
Progress looks gd. Just one thing though, as your choosing not to use the supplied cooling solution. Why are you still using the rear fan mount? It is built with the room for the heatsink (of the supplier cooler) to run between the case and the fan, so without that there, you must just have a nice gaping hole between the fan the back of the case. Meaning less potential room inside the case too. Just a thought :S Nice work -cLoWn Edit: can see what im talking about in this pic
Pretty new, but cheap!! 128 mb ddr1 cable tv in av in av out agp 8x max res 2048x1536@60hz tv tuner remote other stuff too http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-345&depa=0§ion=1 Is passivly cooled right now already, but since my shuttle doesn't have great airflow around the agp card, I would either make the ventilation better and/or slap a Zalman heatsink on it.
The heatpipe system would have been just as effective as the cooling you have now, and quieter as it would have been just one fan. Justa FYI
