Well, I am happy to say I have received my brand new vandal resistant switch. Needless to say I am somewhat anxious to see how it looks. The only problem is I don't know where to attach the wires. I have the power switch/wires and power LED/wires from an old atx case so all i need to do is put them on. The switch I have has four connectors on the back with screws to hold the wires down (I would guess that is what they do anyway). I have seen installation guides for the switches with the other connectors in the back, but so far none with these connectors. The power LED lables the wires as + and - , but the power switch wires have no such lables. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou, Simplegreen
power switch wires dont need them. cos all it does is joins a break in the wire and thats what turns the pc on
Well I went for it and wired it up. The + and - on the switch went with the + and - on the power LED wires. The power switch wires, like you said, can go on either of the other two. Thanks very much for the imput, it gave me just enough confidence to try it While the ring isn't quite as bright as I had hoped, it still looks very nice. Thanks again, Simplegreen
It is the Vandal Resistant illuminated switch. I got mine from Performance-Pcs.com. under "hardware and mods" then "switches".
do you know the max V for the vandal switch? Most cases or mobo's only have about 2v for the power led as they usually use cheap amber or green ones that run on low Voltage. If I remember the spec sheet for those vandals the blue's take around 3-4 Thats why the ring could be dim
Well, I had originally ordered the dot version of the switch. But, they sent me the ring version. I don't really mind as both are very nice looking. As for the Voltages of the power LED. I am not sure what my MB puts out, I checked the manual and webpage, but as far as I can see, they don't say. I have an Asus A7N8X Deluxe, if any of you know how to find out. The light is fairly bright, not as bright as the dot, but still enough to see it is on when lights are on in the room.
I remember someone here actually took apart a Bulgin Ill. switch. It's a one way experience, you can't take it apart and restore it. However it would make a hell of a nice touch switch
