Right, a month ago or so I got my first proper system, and I got a Ti4200 as thats all I could afford. And I updated to DirectX 9.0b, and now I know that my card runs a hell of alot better with 8.1, ive got the 8.1 install for win2k, (running xp pro SP1), but i install it and it still has 9.0 installed, how do i switch back?

    system restore?
there is a tool out there somewhere that will roll back a DX installation. I would rather re-install windows personally ;)

Yes I think its almost impossible to un install DX9 after you install it - I think it even tells you that you can not uninstall it.

yeh, i think ur right, the only way i could think of doing it is by purposely doing a bad overclock so i come up with the screen saying use last known good configuration, but i dont wanna do that, i think ill just stick with 9.0, i dont think theres a noticeable difference, even tho when i put my gfx card to the lowest speeds and put my cpu to 1.57 ghz, i got 30 points higher than unoverclocked.... :S

If you are a gamer then I seriously recommend sticking with DX9.
Maybe you could do with a nice clean install of windows?

Windows; SP1; DX9b; drivers; windows update; apps etc.
