I have a new design in mind for my next case. It is L shaped. I have decided to do this so that I can fit my case in the corner of my desk, and not worry about leaving room in back for cables, and air flow.

Will start building in the next several days.

That's actually such a good idea I don't know why I haven't seen it being done before.

I like how you can see the internals of the case through the window through the 'front' of the case.

    Looking forward to this :)

    Looks good...

    Some sugestions...

The fans that are in the "front most" part of the L will not be possible if there are cdroms there.

You may want more room for the PCI slots, expecially for a window and some extra tall pci, agp cards and to allow for more airflow around the top.

What is the case going to be made out of?

    Looks good... *Suscribed*

I am planning on using plywood for the "skin" and re-enforcing the joints with 1x1.

I'm gonna stay tuned to see how this progresses. Hope this turns out to be a gd mod

This certainly looks interesting... I think I am going to subscribe to this, to see how it turns out. I have some ideas for a custom computer myself... I am not going to say what however; This is something I want to keep secret. Good luck on the L-compy! :thumb:

looks good so far, but this concept absolutely screams "sketchup me!" - you'll be able to fully model the case...

Its a pretty cool idea, tho not unique. It expands on this:

    http://www.xcase.co.uk/acatalog/_I_TEE_CASES_.html

Still, the idea with the window greatly improves the overall feel, and i think the case would have some interesting thermal areas as items such as HDDs and GFX cards would be kept seperate.

I have been fooling around with designs for my own custom case for a while now with only mixed results.
Your concept solves many of the problems that I faced.

    Consider your idea stolen. :thumb:

Project put on hold for short time.

I am in the process of changing jobs, and I will now be working out of the house.

All the funds that I had set aside to build my L-Comp will now be channeled into purchasing a laptop and the gear I need to work from home.

    Not Cancelled, just Postponed.

Shame it had to go on hold but priorities etc.... was looking forward to this one. will watch for it's return. good luck sourcing all you need.

I had one of these in black from the original creator when he was testing the water and selling a few on ebay. An absolute Mare to work on, really cramped, room for 2x 60mm fans on the side (cutouts for 80's but only 10mm deep one's would fit!) easy access but dire wire management capability. Used to have a full picture by picture dismantle an rebuild but i think I have lost them now

    soz for the slight hijack..
