If the RIAA (CRIA / whatever .. same friggin thing) was Bullwinkle... Bullwinkle: Hey Rocky, watch me grab some easy money from file swappers. Rocky: Again? Bullwinkle: Presto! Lion: ROAR!!! Bullwinkle: Oops, wrong country.
Oh yes, the ugliest moose you've ever seen. RIAA/CRIA/BPI/etc are all essentially one organization/gestapo, they just run under different countries and laws. Canada, home of freedom. Finally those words ring true in a country's oath.
Free healthcare, awesome education, low crime, legal w***, and downloadable music? Why haven't I moved yet.
Wow. I don't think think it's actually punishable by law where I live either. I think it's only actually a crime if you make money doing it. Well that's the way it should be. How many teenagers download peer to peer programs and don't realize they're doing something illegal? How many of them can afford to pay the fines and the legal fees anyway? Who pays? The parents. The parents who bought their kids a computer for educational purposes. The parents who did nothing wrong, aside from giving their kids a computer to do their homework on. There's nothing wrong with punishing the people who sell illegal copies of software or entertainment. There is definitely something wrong with going out and punishing teenagers and their parents for something they had no control over and didn't necessarily even know was illegal. God bless Canada. Another country joins us in the battle against the RIAA
Everything is more expensive than the US? Tis on my list of places to emigrate to, at least they speak english n all.
Not by that much, it's mostly a factor of exchange rates. However it can be rather difficult to source various items, stuff that isn't mainstream, etc. If I can't buy it, but it's legal for me to have it, how can downloading be illegal? Oh well. I'll take this lovely chunck of ice over any other, it's my home, and I'm proud of it. Oh and it's aboooot. You missed an 'o'.
Touche. I would most definitely like to at least visit there. Should be able to, as I am gonna be moving to Seattle, WA in the not-too-distant future. And Amsterdam too.
If you head out east you'll get a pretty bad accent like that, but otherwise the rest of the country (save for the french) speak plain english. The folks out east sure to get jivved about their accent and everything, but they are some of the friendliest people I've ever met. *grabs solar powered flashlight to go for a midnight walk*
We have a canadian teacher at my college, she's my form tutor. On the first day everyone was saying "Miss, could you say 'about' please?", she cought on and said "you've been watching that horrible cart-oon aboot canadians being to blame for everything haven't you?" or something, how we laughed.
More bands and more people making music to build their own industry would be a good idea. It doesn't all have to be controlled.
It's legal anywhere to download distribute music ... so long as it's not copyrighted. As expected the CRIA has already filed an appeal.
Yes, under copyright laws it's legal to download anything. It's illegal to distribute copyright material though.
