how are you planning on mounting a fan on that rad without blocking off some vital things... (ide plugs)
Well for a low flow system thats aimed at noise reduction like yours 5lpm is acceptable but for a performace system its well under the requirement. Whats more important when chosing a pump is to get one with the best head rating (also known as pressure). eaven if the pump was rated for 10000lpm its still the head rating that matters, The more the better
im going to try a few different things A: create a low preasure case and "suck" air in through the front, and then through the radiator, and not use a fan... B: put the fan on the outside of the case between the frame, and the front bezel i am going to try for option A: first, i have a feeling it should be sufficient, becuase i have run it with the fan completely off for a few days straight, when it was in my old case (the one im uisng now, im on air cooling right now, boooo) and it worked fine... but if the temps get to high, i will slap on on the front of the case, and it should work quite nicely
Not sure if this has been said but the Via aqua 1300 is a cheap and very small pump equally there's the hydor l20 and l30 which are both small and all have good flow rates. A lot cheaper then the mag drive pumps by danger den and swiftech. off the Top of my head a via aqua is about 3"x3"x4" approx without fittings
For the mounting of the fan onto the rad, You could get some scrap pieces of pvc / acrylic , cut them to shape, glue them together and craft them into some sort of shroud that is angled away from the problem area.
Well Ive seen thse Here pumps on diferent sites and realy dont know the reliability of them but it pushes 370galons per hour and it looks quite tiny. I myself am doing a similar project with a small atx case (dell xpsr-350) and I am going with the hydor l30 as I hear its reliable and flowrates are very good on it.
If you still need a small pump might I suggest this one from Dangerden? http://www.dangerden.com/mall/Pumps/dd12vd4.asp http://forums.pimprig.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=9609 http://forums.pimprig.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=9606 (in pic #2 those UV fans are 80mm) just to give you an idea of the size...
Well because i decided where to mount my pump (in the 3.5 holder) i needed to find a place for my 2 hard drives.. well the top bay, and well i didnt want my 2 hdd's sitting in the top of the case with no air, i decided to make a "hard drive cooler" after the initial fittings (bondo to hold the tubes in place) after cutting them down to size first coat of bondo after alot of sanding, and well sanding and 293847 hours later the "final" version and the whole case put together, and stuff i did this last night, so be ready for another update today
Interesting... So what are the holes in the top for...? HDD cooling? Keep up the good work. I always like seeing something new.
"i decided to make a "hard drive cooler" Less and less people are actually READING posts now days haha Awesome work so far man, well done :>
and exactly where are you planning on placing said pump and res, besides maybe bolting them directly onto the window??? I sure don't see any other place. jesus that's one tight fit.
