I got a 9700 Pro recently. When I boot up any game, the pc will either crash and the monitor turns off (or technically sleep mode or whatever it is) or on somethings like 3D Mark 01SE, it will run for 2-3 seconds on the first test and then freeze for about 10 sec. and then the monitor shuts off. Then I have to restart the machine.

I have tried using both Catalyst 4.4 and the latest Omega drivers, neither work. I can use the card fine otherwise (im using it now) but I can't play any games and its really making me mad. I've tried searching the problem on Google already to no avail. Can anybody help me out? Any help is appreciated.

What PSU do you have, and what is the rest of your system?

Need a bit more information before we can offer some solutions :)

That Raidmax power supply would be my first suspicion. Pay a bit extra and get a quality 400+ watt power supply. Dirty or fluctuating power can raise holy hell with games. You can always use the Raidmax for a spare. :D

I see you are in Grants Pass, I am in Yachats.

Cool. Actually I just ordered a new True 450W PSU from Newegg.com yesterday. Allied True 450W It's gotten good reviews and has alot of power leads which I like. I really hope the new psu will fix the problem.

Yep. Its def. a power thing. I've unplugged everything except one hdd and the vid card. and i can run 3d Mark but it'll randomly crash when running it due to the psu.

Yep thats what causes it. What also might help is a thermal monitoring system that also tells you the voltages of your computer. I have a digi doc 5 in my comp and thats one of the best things about it.

if that new PSU didn't solve the problem, look at possibly overheating. i had similar symptoms when i had chokingly bad airflow in my case.
