Pump Mounted Alrighty, got the pump mounted and its in there good i put it in the HDD rack, and then cut a hole in the bottom of the rack to: A: have enough room, and to bring it down a lil bit, cause it was too tall. B: to have the outlet of the pump facing down. so here are the pics drew up the hole, and cut it... Test fitted the pump... it works then i added rubber molding that i picked up from "Autozone" to cut down on vibrations, and to avoid scratching the hell out of the pump casing. Then came the tricky part... holding the pump in... What i did was I took some flexible steel "strips" that had hole already in them, drilled 4 holes on the side of the case (2 on each) and inserted bolts. i was originally going to use nuts on the bolts, but the holes in the "strips" fit the bolts perfectly, and they could screw into them. Then i bent down the ends of the strips about 1/2 inch short... i did this, because when the bolts go in, and the strip is tightend down, it will pull downward and hold the pump in place... here how it looks, not the prettiest thing, but it gets the job done. and no one will ever see the strips, as they will be against the bottom of the cd rack. and it all mounted inside the case...
O, and i got the front primered yesterday aswell... there are a few imperfections, that will have to be sanded down, and possibly worked out with some bondo but i should have the side pannel bondo'ed up (finished) and primered today as well
thanks, the bottom is pretty original i hope, the top its not too original, but i got the main idea off http://www.mnpctech.com/progressTurbineHD.html, but i think i modified it enough to be original enough, but i'll let you be the judge of that... if you couldnt tell i have it slopping down into the drive bay, and flush with the top as it is curved outward... i wasnt going to do the top at all, but decided i should since im putting 2 hdd's up there once i get my new dvd rom, i believe i will be bondoing a faceplate into the front of the case... but im not sure, im gunna see how it looks normal...
alrighty, like i said, pics of the primered side Before i primered it, and after a couple more coats of bondo (just to get it perfect then i applied the primer, and let it dry, and put it on the case... and a final shot, of the pump mounted along with the radiator... thats about it, this project is gunna probably slow down untill i get some cash, or summer comes (my school stops May 7) so stay tuned... im sure ill keep working on it anyways
Update time... a tiny update, but an update... i worked on the front again and got the drive bezel cover mounted up all nice and stuff... heres some pics after the initial layer of bondo and what not, and some sanding on the top, with the first heavy coat of bondo on the bottom... after the sanding the final coat of bondo... and then i sanded down all the rough spots on the front, and re-primed it all... thats it, i might update friday or saturday... hopefully thats it for now
Looks good... now how is the cdrom going to attach now? Interesting design... Looking forward to more.
i plan on mounting it behind the front cover and attacing the cover so that the cd-rom is completely behind it, and then glue/tape on the tray front on the tray of the cdrom... should work nicely... but time will tell
Could you let me know a couple of months before you do your next mod? I think I'll buy some shares in Bondo company!! Seriously though, nice case, love some of the ideas that have gone into it!
