I have recently purchased a Lian-Li Pc7, with USB ports on the front. The connectors are marked with names, and i wonder if the P4G8X has any internal USB headers. If the P4G8X has any internal headers, how do i connect my USB ports to the headers?
Have a look in the mobo user manual. It will tell you where the header is if there is one and the pin function too. Then just match the cable from the front of the case with the labeled diagram in the manual. I assume that the cables have labels on each connector (all the ones i have used have been labled)
Yes, the P4G8X has an onboard USB header, to which you can connect two plugs (well mine does) - it is blue and is located beneath the bottom PCI slot, slightly to the right. Hope this helps.
I just looked at the manual, and i got the header info. So when i open my case to get this fixed, i see that the names on the lian-li connector are different.
What would those names be? It should be 2 of the following: Vcc, D#-, D#+, GND. Vcc and GND might have numbers after them, best to match all 4 pins #s together. Of course, I'm assuming that each pin has it's own connector, because that's THE MOST AGGREVATING WAY TO CONNECT THEM ALL. We can't have a user-friendly case, now can we?
Ok, from the front USB ports on the case, there's two cables. Cable one has GND2, VCC2, DATA+2 and DATA-2. Cable two has SHIELD, GND1, VCC1, DATA+1 and DATA+1. The motherboard has these connectors, taken from the manual:
GND = GND (obviously lol) Vcc = USB+5v slight guesswork now ... data+ = LDP (possible p for positive) data- = LDM (M for minus?)
yeah thats asus's annoying markings... the shield should go on the NC pin... VCC on the USB+5; DATA+ on the LDP, DATA- on the LDM, and the GND on GND
