Linux A problem of conecting internet~~~

    4 pcs access internet through a host (one of the 4)
    i am not the host ,the host run xp os,and he shares the internet connecting
    i run win2000& linux
    in 2000 it is ok
    but in linux i setup the network configuration ,and activate the device etho
    and stiil can not ping the host (192.168.0.66) .mine is 192.168.0.251
    i set the gateway and dns
    but it dose not work still

    Does the network work? Can you see the shares on the windows macghine from your nix machine and vice versa?

    ummm might not be able to see shares if u cant even ping the thing, if ur leting xp act as dhcp, try doing a static setup on the linux box and see if u can ping it
