Ok I was thinking about taking a cold cathode light tube and adding a water bubble effect to it. I know you can buy them but I happen to have these things around the house so I figure why not just make my own. open up the tube and fill it up with plumbers goop. to get that nice bubble effect. my question is wether this would be safe or not?
the image was just a picture of the plumbers goop. i got the idea from this tutorial. http://www.gideontech.com/guides/water/
Are you saying have stationarybubbles in the plumbers goop, or actually filling it with watter? first way should work, it would act as an insulator though, but if its a tru CCFL you should have to worry about heat. If its the second, ude be better off putting the CCFL inside of a biger plastic tube so you would get more/bigger bubbles and it would be easier to seal, so you werent threatened by leaks.
I was talkinga bout the 1st method. when you pour the goop inside the tube it would make those bubbles and then harden like that. If it's a true CCFL you have to worry about heat? Also note that this would be an external mod.
If its true, then you wouldn't. Its a Cold cathode. External should be fine. I would test it running for a few hours outside, well its external. anyway, it should run fine. be sure to post pics!
